    Hey all --

In a nut shell, I have my documents, pictures, and videos on a NAS drive. So I removed the default shortcuts under the "favorites" of the finder sidebar that pointed to my home local folder and replaced them with shortcuts to the appropriate folder on my NAS.

So, by default, the icons were just a regular folder icon. I read on google how to change the icons, here's what I did:

    1) Go to my local home folder and right click on the documents folder and click "get info"
    2) Click on the small icon in the top left and go to edit -> copy
    3) Right click on the new folder shortcut to the NAS documents in the finder sidebar and click "get info"
    4) click on the small icon in the top left and go to edit -> paste

Everything works fine, the icon updates, as does the icon in the 'preview' section of the 'get info' page. However, the icon in the actual finder sidebar does not update, it just stays the old blank default folder icon.

I tried rebooting just to see if something was cached, but no luck. Just to be sure, I right clicked on the NAS documents (and others) folder and it shows the appropriate icon in the preview window.

Am I missing a step? or is it not possible to show custom icons in the finder sidebar at all?

    Thanks for any info!!

I did previously try a reboot with no luck. I also tried a option-click on the Finder icon in the dock to relaunch it that way.

Within finder, I navigated to my NAS and looked at my home folder. Sure enough the icons there are the custom ones, so the change did work... it's just that the sidebar is not showing them.

    **EDIT**

After MRoogling a bit, seems like you cannot change the icons in the sidebar :(

It's frustrating tho... It's not like I want to use crazy non-standard icons, I want use the standard picture, video, document icons for the shortcuts to my NAS pictures, video, and document folder...
