How much longer do you think it'll take for WatchOS to allow personalized tones? Do you think it's a space issue?

the main reason i originally got my first watch is because i wanted this feature and have been waiting patiently

Unlike iPhone or iPad, Apple Watch does not have a nice speaker to output much sound. Custom ringtone on Apple Watch would be nice, but I feel Apple is designing Apple Watch to more of a subtle notification reminder than an iPhone with full blown speakers used for gaming or watching videos.

And, I’d say getting Apple Watch because of hoping to have custom ringtones on it is a bit weird to say the least.

It’s all about personalization. And just a hunch, I doubt the OP bought the Apple Watch for the sole purpose to have custom ringtones... I think they are hoping Apple will implement it.

And I would agree with you, I don’t think Apple envision having custom ringtones on the Apple Watch. Heck, they haven’t exported their own ringtones from iOS. But to say it’s not possible cause of their tiny speaker doesn’t make much sense.

We can take phone calls from the Apple Watch, it doesn’t take much for Apple to do it... I just don’t think it’s in the cards.

I think it's so dumb you can't change the tones on an AW. There is no reason other then Apple being controlling over things they do not have to be.

Yes...because I'm a nerd and immediately thought about Dick Tracy and the Power Rangers wrist communicator tones from my childhood and was hoping to somewhat make that fantasy a reality and I believe apple easily could do it.

This makes sense. But geez not even an extra 2 or 3 to choose from?

Breathe tone vs. Txt tone. vs notification tone (messenger, what's app, social network notification, etc.). The watch has a few tones that it already uses. They could have TRIED to at least add another option to choose from. When I'm with my family (4 of us + my fiancé) we ALL have AWs lol. You should see some of us when we get a text loll.

"was that you or me?"

But it should be easy to distinguish which AW by the haptic feedback on the wrist, but I get you’re point.
