Customize alert for Whatsapp on iOS 8?

Hi I run an iphone 5s with ios 8.1

I use whatsapp but can't seem to be able to customize the alert tone when a new message comes in.

Can anyone tell me if the above is possible in ios 8.1? Thanks in advance!

WhatsApp - Settings - Notifications. There you can manage alert tones for individual or group messages 🙂

Start Whatsapp, Settings/Notifications/New Message.
Choose your alert from there.

If it's your own custom tone you want I'm afraid that's not possible.
You can only use the default tones in Whatsapp.
