As I said, if Apple wasn't involved, I doubt there would be an uproar about it.

So? That only shows why MCX is running scared. They know Apple has clout and lots of media attention and a better mobile payment system. And there should be an uproar when a retailer pulls a dick move.

So.. when consumers start getting NFC credit cards next year.. are they going to continue to not allow NFC based payments? It doesn't sound like they are capable of blocking just Apple Pay or Google Wallet, but are blocking all NFC payments.

I'm sure that won't cause a problem at all.

Well.... so many people on these forums want to make this an Apple issue. Any good reason to bash Apple, right? It's really not an Apple issue. It affects every NFC system.

First off personalizing this, attacking me as wrong is very immature.

I simply posted, just like we all do, observations and thoughts. You've failed as you cannot anger me.

At no time did I say why they're shutting it down other than to say it didn't work for them.

It appears based on what you've written you are guessing and assuming. Sadly you're misleading yourself.

I'd encourage you to educate yourself on this topic. Spreading FUD makes you look clueless.

What was the false informarion in his post that was FUD?

Sounds like the obvious to me..

They just decided not to support NFC... I don't see anything wrong with this (Maybe think ahead next time), but its reasonable.

You missed my point. It wasn't about who could make this work. I don't recall people here wishing Apple would come up with a payment system. IMO, people here are enraged because someone defied Apple. And if it was another company, it wouldn't get much attention, especially here.

I have no problem with what Apple has done. I have merely pointed out what I find to be extremely comical with some of the posts in these threads, that's all.

They are defying ME the CONSUMER. That's why its a dick move. Its NFC as a whole, not just Apple that's affected. It's not the defiance of Apple that's the issue, but you keep trying your best to make that the issue.

Sorry for also using your words.

Yeah, I feel better now that you've defended yourself with more double-talk.

Oh please. If you want to twist my words around to prove some idiotic point, go right ahead. You're not that obtuse that you don't know the difference between what you accused me of and what I did in that post.

But I'm done responding to you as this conversation is completely off topic from what this thread is about.

I have two theories on this...

1) I've used Apple Pay a few times and it's amazing, I definitely won't be shopping at these establishments.

2) The market is competitive and these retailers want additional dollars using their own payment system - how is competition a bad thing?

We had Apple vs Microsoft. Then we had Apple vs Android. Then we had Apple vs Samsung. Now we have Apple Pay vs Retailer Pay...

Yeah because this is MacRumors, not Google or Android Rumors.
Truthfully most Android users don't care. There is a small vocal minority that do. I imagine Apple Pay users will be in the same boat.

So? That only shows why MCX is running scared. They know Apple has clout and lots of media attention and a better mobile payment system. And there should be an uproar when a retailer pulls a dick move.
If anything it would have been a good opportunity for them to tout their system on the coat tails of Apple Pay, getting more exposure.

OK, you're now part of a movement? How sad.

haha.... do you still pay with groceries using checks? Credit/Debit cards were a crazy new fad, too. People made the exact same types of comments when those came out. Oh... maybe you are even more old school than that... maybe even checks are a new fad gimmick. Pure cash, baby!

Really. Don't be so naive. It's not like they didn't already have it up and running.

If you don't wanna do something, why did they support it ? I can understand over a long period, but it wasn't long ago since they got Apple Pay, thus the retailer knew what they were doing.

So how is CurrentC any different than giving CVS or these retailers your personal plastic debit card to swipe and purchase products? Both a debit card and this CurrentC app are both linked to your checking account. What's the difference?

So as a "consumer" you should be upset when retailers remove, out of spite or dickishness, an option to pay for items that was already there.

I don't agree with their decision. I understand it. As I am not into NFC payments in general, I have no need to "upset" or even outraged over a company's decision to allow it or not allow it.

You can get as emotional as you want over it. My energies are better spent elsewhere.

Would be fun to go to CVS and just put a bunch of stuff in your cart and have them check you out and try to pay with apple pay and when they tell you they don't accept apple pay just be like "oh well never mind then. I'll go to Walgreens" :p

Because you are giving your actual checking account number to the merchant, and you are no longer protected by the Visa/MC logo on your debit card.

I think for many, it is the issue. My opinion.
