I would love to see Apple announce that tomorrow. But can they legally? Don't know.

It's a stretch but it would be funny if they use guideline 2.11.

"Apps that duplicate Apps already in the App Store may be rejected"

Google Wallet and Passbook/Apple Pay.

Fair enough, but by bashing anybody who wants to use Apple Pay, aren't you accomplishing the same in a roundabout way?

And if you had read closely, I didn't bash everyone for using Apple Pay. Just the ones who are acting like their life is over because a drug store doesn't accept it.:)

It'd be funnier if they did it the day CurrentC decides to launch and spends their media budget on ads telling people to get the app in the App Store.

This reminds me of DIVX from the 90s—an abuse of a technology designed by a legal/financial team for nefarious corporate gains wrapped up in the flimsiest customer marketing push.

By the way, during the few hours today I didn't post anything, I took a drive around Denver as I'm here for a bit of relaxation. Going down I-25 I spotted a Whole Foods that had placed "NOW ACCEPTING APPLE PAY" on the changeable part of their sign. Sure sounds like ApplePay is a failure!

No, you were definitely poking sticks in the eyes of anyone that seemed to care about Apple Pay. Your definition of "acting like their life was over" is pretty much anyone that said something negative about CVS, Rite-Aid, and MCX. You were trying to insinuate that people were making this about Apple, even after numerous people explained why this is bad for all consumers.

Now, the people loading up shopping carts and leaving it at the counter... yeah, they're off the deep end.

MCX made them sign an exclusivity deal. It makes sense financially for the companies to not use Apple pay anyway.

Knowing Apple the fees for Apple Pay are sky high. On something like a creditcard transaction Visa or Mastercard will charge 2-3% per transaction. Then on top of that Apple will charge it's own fee in percentage. From a retailers point that's enough to drop Apple pay for good. For debit transactions Apple gets a cut out of those transactions too. Basically Apple pay is a more expensive payment service than everything else that brings nothing of use to the table.

MCX is different. Instead of going through Visa or Mastercard (which process credit card payments, they are not the ones who give out the credit) MCX goes straight to the bank from where the credit is issued, avoiding the 2-3% fee. On top of that there's nothing stopping Apple Pay partners from dropping it. So if MCX make their payment system work Apple pay will be finished.

On top of this there's a huge benefit to the customer for using MCX. MCX can introduce a universal loyalty points system. Say you use MCX at CVS to buy something and get loyalty points that you can then use at Walmart to buy something with. That would be amazing.

Well have to see how this plays out.

When you don't know what your saying you refrain from talking : the fees come from the normal transaction fees, it is 0.15%

What you guys don't understand is that eventually Social Media is going to start to blowup in everyone's face and company like Target, Riteaid etc.. will turn off all their social media. Its time to tone down this boycott stuff because whining is not going to change business decisions just because a few are butt hurt.

Wow! You do have clue. You think you can "turn off" social media... Social media, before it had this name, made Intel cave on a defect in their chip and that's more esoteric than that. A company which ignores bad PR on the internet is in for a very bad time indeed.

I still believe this is about Apple for many posting in this thread. I'm sure I'll also use ApplePay too. But I probably won't hang myself if someplace I shop doesn't support it and I won't change my shopping habits over it.

MCX will be still-born when consumers find out that:

  1. They have to grant authority to debit their checking account.
  2. They have to provide their Social Security number AND their driver's license number for "verification".
  3. Their bank won't refund disputed withdrawals, and it will be up to the merchant to resolve it.

Number 3 is the really scary one...

I think you are acting like your life is over because people are willing to speak up and reject the companies that reject Apple Pay. And this CurrentC system is really bad and will fail. Rite Aid and CVS will end up looking very foolish, as will you.

Hang yourself? You are acting hysterical. Get a drink. Take a Xanax. Relax. Chill out.

I understand very much so. You fanatics are trying to force a company to use something they don't want to use how would like to invest your money and forces you to invest it elsewhere?
