Hello everyone!

Since last week the Cyberghost app does not start anymore. The icon is jumping around in the dock and thats about it.
In activity monitor it shows that the app does not respond and hogs up more and more memory and i need to force close it.

Re-install didn't do anything, the developers don't respond and google doesn't help as well.
Anyone recognize this issue?

I think it started since the latest ventura update, time machine backup didn't help as well, and now i dont have any backup anymore from before the update.
I don't use a vpn constantly so it took me about a week to boot up cyberghost after the update from macos.

Food for thought - consider who owns CyberGhost - Kape Technologies

Taking a Closer Look at Kape Technologies, Crossrider, and Malware
Over the past few years, we have frequently connected Kape Technologies (formerly Crossrider) with malware distribution. Why did we do this? Well, there are numerous outlets and security experts that discussed the problems and removal techniques of Crossrider malware and adware.

Kape Technologies
Kape Technologies has had quite a convoluted history. According to a report in Forbes, a company called Crossrider was formed in 2011 by "billionaire Teddy Sagi, a serial entrepreneur and ex-con who was jailed for insider trading in the 1990s. His biggest money maker to date is gambling software developer Playtech," and Koby Menachemi.

Do you really want to trust your VPN to a company that has such a checkered history? I stopped using ExpressVPN partly because of Kape but also because they're employing someone who actively helped others spy on others - that's neither here nor there, but the point I'm trying to make is, that you're using VPN for privacy reasons - you need to trust the company that you're using and to me anything related to kape is no trustworthy - just my two cents. I'm not trying to hijack your thread but rather give you information so you can make your own decision

mmh.. interesting link, thank you!
Its not that i use the vpn all the time, only use it for downloading movies ( that i own on dvd's ofcourse ^^).

Bought a 3 year cyberghost license that is still good for a year, but considering the article and the problems with the app, make it easy to just forget about it completely.

I will try icloud private relay (that came out a month after i bought the CG license)
