Hello,

I just purchased a CyberPower 825VA UPS from BestBuy and connected it to my iMac via the included USB cable. The computer recognizes it and says that is is 100% charges, but the menu bar says "Unknown Time" when I switch the preference to see how much time is remaining.

Edit : Nevermind, it doesn't show anything until the power is cut.

Is this normal or did I miss something setting it up?

Thanks.

No you did not miss anything the only way for it to tell how much time is left is for it to be in use and see the power draw at the time of that happening, works the same with my APC 1500va I have as well.

Well, since I have this thread open...does anyone know of a cheap UPS that I can use to just power a cable modem and router? It would only have to last for ~1 minute, as we never have any blackouts longer than that. I just don't want to spend ~$60+ for something that will be total overkill for its task.

Plug them into your already existing UPS there is more than enough power left over in it to do all them together.
