Hi all

When I start a workout on AW8, a new WatchOS 10 feature is the live stats will show on the iPhone 15 as well.

I previously was able to click "end workout" on the iPhone and the workout ends on the Apple Watch. Now, for some reason, when I click "end workout" it just spins and does not end. I am able to stop, but not end.

Both devices on latest OS version. I have also killed all apps and rebooted. Still not working properly. Any ideas pls?

PS: I wish WorkOutDoors would have this feature but I believe this is an Apple limitation as they reserve this special ecosystem functionality for their own apps...one can dream!

I have the same issue, and I didn't notice it until sometime in the past month. It worked fine before then. Must be a bug on the latest iOS 17 update.

No fix. I'm now on WatchOS 10.3.1 on AW8 and iOS 17.3.1 on iPhone 15 so latest OS versions - still have this issue and have to stare at it every day on my commutes into the office. So annoying.

Hmm, I’ll try that on my AWU2 next ride, I usually start / end via the watch.
Now, I do press “lock controls” on my iPhone 14 Pro so it does not by accident turn off.

I like seeing its onscreen stats as riding

I’ve been using my iPhone 11 and now iPhone 14 every ride on my bike with its handle bar mount, Thule brand, secret is double rubber band to hold it.

Was out at 6am.
I’m on a iPhone 14 Pro, AWU2, latest iOS for each.
I can confirm that I started the outdoor cycle on the watch, ended it on the iPhone. It was ended on the watch also .
I use the iPhone real time seeing its screen .

Below is screen shot of watch afterwards;

Yep, it was a early ride for sure, full Luna setting

hi @mtbdudex still have issues - sometimes I can pause, sometimes I cannot, but have not been able to end the workout. Don't understand the pattern or reasons for it. Watch is next to the phone, no powersaving, latest OS, full battery, BT, Wifi, GPS, etc all turned on.

Ugh, truly sucks.
Works for me, not for you.
…. How can you demo this inside an Apple Store so they see it and can own fixing it?

As closure , I took these screen shots from today’s cycle workout.
I always lock controls so don’t accidentally stop either a hand touch.
Swipe to right, then those choices show.
I select end workout, it re-confirms that.
When I select end, the phone and watch sync off.

You follow same steps yet watch does not end?

This is what I see after a cycle workout - just a spinning wheel when I tap end workout. Doesn’t finish no matter how long I wait

That’s like a mis-connection issue .. can’t connect so your seeing that. Weird as obviously you are connected as the watch is passing data to the phone. Seems an Apple Store genius visit is the next step, if ones close enough to you.
Good luck , I feel your struggles, sucks when tech should work and does not.

What’s odd is I can pause (most of the time) but just not end. Hence don’t believe it’s a connection issue as other data comes through and phone is right next to the watch

I can confirm I have the exact same issue. Everything seems to work except tapping "End Workout" on the iPhone. I see the same spinner and the workout doesn't end. Ending the workout directly on the Watch works fine.

As last ditch .. have you a full backup both devices , and then considered doing a full reinstall??
I have a full backup but not worth my time to do that - rather be out doing sport or with the kids over the weekend. I will wait for Apple to resolve this bug - how annoying

Btw, I competitively raced 1996-1999, peaked taking 3rd place 1998 NORBA nationals . I used HR monitor and altitude watches to capture data and track my training progress.
After that win, I went thru a “de-technology” phase and .. well just rode for fun, yep. Cut the cord back then.
Then Apple Watch came, and I started to track metrics again …
AW5, AW7, now AWU2
