Just thought I would post a thread here for Cycorder updates. Hoping eventually this new video recorder for the iPhone 3G will have a function to either send to e-mail or Photobucket or Youtube, etc.

Right now I see it has been updated to include audio with video.:D

not digging the adware though minimal. I've heard the vid that it takes is better than videorecorder3G. The bid on cycorder seems to be cropped as well. I wonder if it has anything to do with the adware?

    Cycorder "bid" Cropping

The "bid"? I'm sorry, I don't know what that means. There are actually /no/ limitations caused to Cycorder due to it being adware. I carefully chose the resolution it records and plays back at as it is the most common aspect ratio (4x3) and has dimensions that are multiples of 32 (in order to provide for later re-encoding with awesome codecs on your desktop). It actually /just so happened/ that I had a massive wasted black bar along the left that AdMob perfectly fit into. It was seriously serendipity.

All the other iPhone video recorders have had no choice over their aspect ratio (as they aren't actually accessing the camera: they just take rapid screenshots of a camera preview window, which normally takes up the whole screen), which really sucks when you want to do, well, anything with the video later. 320x416 is just /not/ a useful resolution to have recorded something in.

    Cycorder

I'd pay for this program. Comes in very handy. Would love to have that email option, but hell, it is what it is. Love what Saurik is doing with Cydia and can only dream of being able to create such cool stuff myself! Thanks, Dude!

I too am really excited about Cycorder. Even without the things folks have mentioned I think it's great.

As I've said before I think Saurik has done soooo much for the iPhone user/owner community. Can't thank Saurik enough for Cycorder, Cydia and all his efforts!

Wow, I didn't know Cycorder had audio support now (the main reason I didn't install it when it first came out).

Great work saurik! The ad placement is very unobtrusive and I am happy to support developers like you.

Sorry Vid not "bid", was typing on my phone. Got to love the auto correct feature. Thanks for clearing up the aspect ratio question I had. I'll definately be keeping this one.

Stupid question. How do you get the video off of the phone onto your computer? Do I need to SSH it via Cyberduck or similar? If so, what directory are the video's stored in?

Yes, use SSH and point to /private/var/mobile/Media/Videos

...it's sooo nice to have a video recorder with sound on our iPhones!

I SSH into the phone and got the videos off cycorder.
They are very good uality, and audio quality is also good, not very loud though
I then uploaded the .mov file onto youtube, but after reencoding by youtube during the pricessing stage, the audio is now broken, and the Video quality dropped a lot:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOMN-3QFJTw

Should i re-encode it before uploading? The file was quite large as well, 55mb for a 2:15 video. If so what should i use?

    Thanks
