cydia apps and updating 2.2.1

Do cydia apps have to be updated IE will they work just fine if I update? I have never updated a jailbroken phone before. I would be going from 2.2 - 2.2.1

Apps I use are pdanet,backgrounder, winterboard, intelliscreen.

I think you will have to redownload. I don't thing they will restore from a backup. But I don't know for sure.

Get AptBackup. Now backup for Jailbreak apps in that, and sync with iTunes. this will make a backup of your phone. Restore your phone to factory, then upgrade to 2.2.1. Then use PwnageTool/QuickPwn/WinPwn to jailbreak. Now restore your iTunes backup onto the phone. finally, re-install AptBackup via Cydia, click restore, and all your JB apps will return as if by magic.
