We'll see. Jailbreak your OS X machine, probably.

But what does that mean? What restrictions have you run into?

It will pretty much be an alternative to the Mac App Store for developers and users alike. Apple has some restrictions regarding apps that can be submitted. Looks like will be making a store where anything can be submitted.

Macs aren't locked down though. You sound misinformed and confused.

What these posters are pointing out is that there's already a store where any Mac app can be submitted. It's called the Internet. And there are specific sites like MacUpdate providing one-stop shopping.

there is no jailbreak. just a place to get extensions and apps not allowed in the app store in a nice clean app with some app store advantages.

Great! Now I can customize my wallpaper, multitask, install 3rd party applications, and use a bluetooth mouse.

But wait, can't I do this already? :D

    Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (iPhone; Opera Mini/5.0.019802/22.401; U; en) Presto/2.5.25 Version/10.54)

I suppose this will be a Mac App Store, minus Apple's restrictions (no demos, no trials, no system modifications, etc.).

I do think that the Internet is currently a better solution, but we shall see how far Cydia goes.....

This will be as awesome as all the fanfair people on MRs granted the introduction of the Mac App Store.

    Both completely unwarranted.
