I just bought a new D-Link DIR-605 (I'm in China, so I'm sure this model has a corresponding model in US / Europe... Maybe 615??)

My connectivity without the modem is fine. When I connect through the router, and try to access the web setup page (192.168.0.1), I get nothing. So, I read the US manual for the 615 (the 605 manual is all chinese) and it says that I must ensure that the iMac IP subnet is also 192.168.0.1. Under TCP/IP, I have setup manually with 192.168.0.50 for IPv4 address, 255.255.255.0 for subnet and 192.168.0.1 for router and still I get nothing when I put http://192.168.0.1. I even put 192.168.0.1 into the dns server as well. Everything I try is a bust.

The internet I have here is ADSL I think (it is coming in via phone line but everyone keeps calling it broadband). The connection type is PPPoE.

Kinda desperate here, so really would appreciate some assistance.

Do you have the connection (I assume it's an ethernet cable) from the modem to the router going to the right port? Have you tried resetting the router to factory defaults (usually holding the power button for 30 seconds or so)? Does your ISP allow for private networks? Can you ping 192.168.0.1?
