    Hi all,

My Dad is currently in Scotland and his Macbook pro has locked him out. He starts the machine up and when he is prompted for his password (which he does know and has tried many times) it will no longer let him in. It worked fine earlier this morning, but now he's having issues.

As he's in Scotland and the phone is $1 a minute, this is not something where he can sit on the phone with me for extended periods of time to try and fix. Does anyone know how he can get in without access to any system discs? (Yes, we tried the caps lock things and all of that).

    Thanks!

Case closed. There are two e's in his password and the e key has stopped working. Bummer...

If h has th OSX boot DVDs with him, h could r boot from th DVD (holding the "C" k y through th r boot) and r s t th password to som thing that didn't hav any 's in it.

Could you pop off the key and try pushing on the button with something else?

I didn't know you could pop keys off the MBP-style keyboard and put them back on... can you?

Well he could go to the nearest computer store and buy any external USB keyboard - that will get him up and running , until he has time to get the keyboard repaired.

Or pop in and ask if he could just plug a display one in for 2 seconds and change his password. ;) Worth a shot. :D

He's in Scotland eh? Good lad.

If the "E" key isn't working, has he tried popping the key out and cleaned it?
