Can hard drives be daisy chained and have the raid controls looked after by the cpu? Or is this just a stupid idea? I'm looking for the quickest way to be able to afford a 2TB+ hard drive system with ideally raid 1+0. I was thinking if its possible just to keep adding HDs as I go then I dont have one massive expense.

Thoughts...cheers

terrible idea....

do not try to RAID multiple drives on a single FW bus.

the cheapest way to get 4-drive RAID0+1 (that is actually effective) is to buy a 4-bay enclosure and a SATA card. there aren't really any corners you can cut and keep the RAID effective.
