Hello everybody !
My second iMac arrived after 10 days of waiting (first unit returned because weird, “rattling” sound fan) about 20 minutes ago.

I was so happy until I noticed big hole at bottom of external and internal package. I can see and touch metal stand of iMac through this hole. What I can say, that’s Premium DHL Express Service.

I’m glad that I’ve bought it at Apple.com and they already helped me with this issue.

Take a look:

That’s awful. What is Apple doing about this?

DHL by the way has been great for us. We use them a lot. FedEx by far the worse. Hopefully this is an isolated incident. .

They just offered me replacement without any problem. I don’t blame them for this damage. I hope the next one will be good. If not, I’m gonna buy RTX 3080 and build PC :D

It looks like another box came in contact with that box. I'm guessing you're joking about the RTX 3080 because if you bought this Mac for gaming instead of building a PC all I can say is you bought a hammer to put in screws LOL.

I don’t want to even know what they did with that box.

Haha, yea, it was some kind of joke. I’m just a little tired with this iMac purchase. For gaming I’ll buy PS5 :)

I would worry about any internal damage. I build a monster gaming PC and just ordered the new iMac with the 5700XT. As much as I love the PC, I will be selling it. Windows via boot camp will suffice. It won’t match the Ryzen 3900X/2080 super custom loop with dual radiator but it will do 😂

5700XT is pretty good GPU. You’ll easily play most games 1440p with medium/high details. I bought base iMac with 5300 and to be honest it’s not worth to upgrade to 5500XT. After check many benchmarks and games is like only about 10% faster than 5300. For my light gaming: CS GO, Path of Exile, Sea of Thievs is more than enough. The difference in price is about 600$ so a little bit more than the cost of PS5 ( I know that I’ll get also better CPU and 256GB extra but I don’t need it ) :)

I had a gaming laptop but I gave it to a friend who probably would get more use out of it. I have a 5700XT in a Razer Core V1 (Not X... I hate Razer but that's another topic) for my Mac mini and it does what I need it to. I play WOW or some Steam games but not a serious gamer. I loved POE but haven't played in ages due to always working. Thanks for reminding me. I need to re-download it!

Ohh you got eGPU with Mac Mini. I heard that’s not the best solution because you lose much performance. PoE got so many new things, don’t be scared :

My shipping box had a slight dent and hole in it, but didn't dent or put a hole in the iMac box.

My first iMac had one dent in shipping box but internal one was in very good condition. I don’t except perfect box without scratch but this one is so awful and I can’t accept it.

The only reason I got the 5700XT is because I know it will deliver sufficient performance to streamline everything and just have one machine. I plan on using it with Rift S. I had the PC desktop version of the 5700XT (The Asrock Taichi) and it was a nightmare in terms of drivers, so I got frustrated and build a slightly overcompensating Nvidia based system. I simply trust Apple to have the driver situation buttoned up on its variant of the 5700XT. I mean, Apple has never ever had any driver issues, right?

So, we shall see... By the way I was once a hardcore PS fan, starting with PS1 all the way to PS4... then I bought the Xbox One X and can't imagine ever going back. So, I'm definitely buying the new Xbox when it comes out. One more reason to give up the PC monstrosity I built. It was hell of a fun to put together though.

Looks amazing, especially with vertical GPU.

I didn’t know that there is so many trouble with Radeon drivers. I can only say that drivers for 5300 worked very well in MacOS and Bootcamp. Hmm.. Why do you prefer Xbox ? After playing God of War 2018 or Bloodborne, I promised myself that I will buy PlayStation again, even for 1-2 games :D

From what I looked up it's like 20-25%. Not great but it still allows me to play games at decent settings that would be completely unplayable with with the intergrated graphics. Where you take the big hit is trying to connect an eGPU to a laptop and play off the internal screen. Right now I'm on a terrible 1080P monitor but will soon upgrade to 1440P. Downloading POE now :)

I kept the PS4 for months because I absolutely love Natan Drake and his shenanigans, but eventually gave it to my brother. Why I prefer the Xbox?

1. Gamepass is by far the best value in gaming. No streaming nonsense. You download the game.
2. Exclusives. Halo, Gears (aaaaaaamazing) Stay of Decay 2, Forza franchise and more
3. Ecosystem is well designed, gamertag implementation is flawless, online multiplayers are more reliable and stable when compared to PS4.
4. Gamepass... yeah, it's that awesome. Worth mentioning it twice. All Microsoft exclusives are available on Gamepass day one. AAA games drop every month, like RDR2, Fallout 76, Gears 5 and ton more
5. Cortana integration. It's actually better than I expected. You can ask her to take a screenshot, mute (when wife is telling you something and you have to pretend to listen) etc.
6. Hardware. It's simply more powerful than PS4 Pro. Amazing performance (xbox one x)
7. Native 4K gaming. No upscaling.
8. Multi-console and PC integration. Say you play on one xbox (like in the bedroom) and then go to the living room and play on one there. Everything syncs flawlessly. On PC, if you have the Ultimate, you get the PC game library and achievements sync (but not the games).
9. Community. Ton of great people on there to play with. You get the same on PS, but I never got into any multiplayers on it. Just wasn't as good for some reason.
10. Backwards compatibility. I have all the gems from the previous generation and developers often upgrade them, so the visual quality is great, too.

Things I miss from PS

1. The "playstation" chime thing. I mean, it brings decades of memories
2. Exclusives. Some of the best, bar none
3. Being able to ridicule xbox owners for their stupid choice in buying a less popular platform that is outsold every. single. generation. Losers. 😂

Not sure what size monitor you're planning on getting but if you're eyeballing a good gaming monitor that is priced well and has all the features you'd want, check out the new Gigabyte 32 curved 2K. It's what I use with the PC. It's awesome across the board, but does have some backlight bleed you'll notice when the screen is black. Otherwise it's stellar. https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16824012012

That looks nice. I have a 32" Samsung 1080P curved now but was looking at a 27". I might keep the larger size though. I wish I could see them in person

I can take pics of any details you’re interested in seeing and put an iPad or iPhone next to it for size reference. Just let me know if that helps!

I just mean how it looks as in not the hardware part of the monitor but how the display image looks. I’m not sure you would be able to capture that in a picture. I’ve gone to electronics stores and I’ll see a nice gaming monitor and it just looks better. I’m not sure how to explain that though. Things just look more crisp I guess.

Oh, I see. Yeah, I totally get it. You’re right. It’s not possible to take a picture or even video to showcase what the display looks like in real life.

Nice summary. I’ve been getting into playing player-v-player games with my son, him on the One X and me on the iMac Bootcamp Win10, as we have GamePass as there’s a few games like Forza series that will run on both and link up x-platform.
