All these performance comparisons reminds me of the PC wars. We're at a point now when the differences in features, performance, and quality are imperceptible. It's all about ecosystem and soon it will be about price.

Google, Xiaomi, Huawei, and others have set the bar and sent a message to Apple and Samsung that ridiculously high prices aren't necessary for a decent experience anymore.

That's the good thing about being an average Joe, we are entitled to our opinions. It's rare you'll find a reviewer that is allowed the same luxury however.
At the end of the day everybody’s needs are different. A lot rather have the iphone as the sales fiqures suggest but android has some amazing devices and gives you plenty of great options.

The differences are clearly perceptible and its personal whether or not these differences matter to you.

One reason I like Apple phones is that if my phone is lost, destroyed, stolen I can go to the Apple Store and 10 minutes later get a new phone and start restoring. Maybe you can do that with Google, xiaomni and huawei but that peace of mind it's worth it's weight in gold.

I'll admit it's a nice feature to get a quick replacement. Google will advance ship a Nexus next day if needed, too.

But let's be honest. I've owned smartphones for almost a decade now and I've never lost my phone or had it stolen or even destroyed. Just normal scratches and broken screens on occasion.

When iPhones and Galaxy's were more expensive and offered so much more in hardware and software, you could make sense of that insurance policy.

But now that we have competitive phones at such discounts, that insurance policy isn't worth as much. We're close to being able to buy two very decent phones for the price of a iPhone or Galaxy. How's that for an insurance policy?

The fact is that we're at a point where performance, features, quality are peaking and price will be the next big differentiator. Apple and Samsung are going to have to deal with it. Samsung first and eventually Apple.

My sons iPhone was stolen and had to use insurance policy; not 10 minutes but next day. His isn't "mission critical".

You might be right about what you say. Then again bmw sells a boat load of cars; showing there still is a market for premium products

No one is talking about the premium phones going away. Samsung and Apple will be around for a long time. But they will shrink unless they lower their prices. BMW and Mercedes are happy to keep their margins and give up share.

Apple and Samsung have enjoyed both for a long time. They will give up share in the next few years to protect their margins.

BTW, BMW and Mercedes each sold about 250k units in the US so far in 2015 and Toyota has sold 1.5M. Honda another 1M. Huge difference.

German cars are more popular in Europe than the US. Vice versa for the Japanese funny enough. The Prius being the exception...since its the cab company car of choice.

That proves my point because BMW and Mercedes sell much lower priced cars in Europe that are not available in the US. They want to preserve their premium branding in the US.

Bmw has been on a roll the last few years. Apple despite their high(er) prices manages decent sales. I don't know what the future will bring. The cycle starts with sales moves in to profits with market share in there as well. I don't think Apple really cares about market share (but I could be wrong) for that is not whatbd Ives their business.

For the money it better be the best phone on the market. $750 to get a useable amount of memory is outrageous since there are nearly as good Android phones starting under $500. Since most people pay through the contract the real price of the hardware is hidden from them but they are still paying for it.

I have a Moto X pure that was under 500.00 for a 32gb and added a 64gb sdxc. It's the best phone I have ever owned, pure android lollipop is smooth and I will not be going back down the ios/apple rabbit hole. It's 5.7 and an iphone plus with 64 is about twice as much and I really dislike ios, being blinded by the bright white. I don't know what will happen when it's time to get rid of this one, hopefully 2-3 years but it will probably be between android and windows if windows gets to looking better. I also gave my wife my ipad mini and got an nvidia shield. I still have my mac though, probably will for a few years.

It's a well known fact that Anandtech are a bunch of biased Apple fanboys now.
They had to become fanboys, the reason is simple. iPhone is the most popular smartphone which generates most clicks and clicks generate ad revenue. If they made their iPhone reviews more critical then fewer Apple users would read them, which would in turn affect their revenue.

It couldn't just be that people have different opinions. There just has to be some conspiracy of some sort behind it to make it more juicy than reality usually is.

I do not know what to believe because most of that type of accusation is coming Android fanboys on here. Is it irony or just a massive wind up? lol

Their boss WORKS at Apple. You think he would let them publish an unbiased review ?I read their reviews of both the S6 and the 6S and they weren't as critical of the 6S as much as e S6.Both of them deserved the same caliber award. They don't even try to take into account Apple's 16Gb variant, the low res screen, the design of the phone as compared to the other flagships. The review was biased.Same goes for iVerge

BTW I am not a Android fanboy.I own a Air 2,iPhone 6 and a MBA but I am not blind to facts

Their boss sold his share in the company and no longer works for them. You didn't even try to take that into account, so how does that affect the facts?

Who is to say the S6 deserved the same accolade?

Plus Apple stops inviting them to events and stops sending them iphones to review if they give them negative reviews

Fact? seriously?

More like it is a well known sentiment amongst Android fans who cannot get behind any opinion different to their own.

Especially after Anandtech pointed out how Apple's A7 processor pretty much demolished the competition and explained in no uncertain terms why dual-core processors were generally better suited to a mobile environment than quad-core processors.

I can understand why Android fanboys would be fuming mad - that gives them one less spec they can brag about now!

Isn't "generally" an uncertain term?

I still contend Android vs iOS is a matter of taste. The iPhone 6S and Android flagships are mostly comparable. The difference is, at least in the US, that the iPhone 6S+ is significantly more expensive than the Nexus 6P.

Well, Anandtech states that there can be situations where 4 cores are better than 2, but those scenarios are so rare that they do not apply to the majority of smartphone use cases out there.

Price doesn't determine how good the phone is though. I appreciate it often puts people off if a device is too expensive, but if cost isn't an issue then it's irrelevant.

I quite often hear people slate the iPhone for being too expensive, but personally I can afford it so it's not a defining factor to me. We all have different needs and budgets. :)
