Looooove the form factor. So light and easy to deal with. It's been with me in bed, never have to worry about knocking it off by accident. The on-screen keyboard was MEANT for this size! So comfortable! But it's a nightmare on my eyes. I keep squinting, and I always have YouTube + safari in split view, and it's a nightmare on the mini. I get a migraine, and despite not noticing the jelly scroll, I do in generel feel nauseous from scrolling on a non-Promotion display. When I pick up my iPP 11-inch (2018 model), it now feels large and heavy, but a relief for my eyes to look at! Also, the Touch ID button is getting on my nervous, as I'm not supposed to actually click on it....I've had the mini for 3 days now... return policy doesn't count once product is opened, in my country....

What should I do? Continue to force myself to see if I'd get over straining my eyes?

Reading glasses? The DPI is a lot higher for this small screen, compared to the 11", so yes the text is smaller.

Our eyes are not really made to be staring at relatively bright screens in the darkness of our bedroom. Perhaps use it in better lighting conditions?

Else, reduce the brightness and try to get a little ambient light in there so you are not dealing with such harsh contrast.

"Squinting" reads like you need bigger stuff on screen. Rotate to landscape view? Else, maybe this one is too small for you.

"Nautious" reads like you should start the scroll but look away or close your eyes until the second or so later when it's done scrolling.

"Touch ID" button offers the option to click it but you don't have to click it. Click it for power on/off or to summon SIRI. Else, adjust. This will simply be a new trick to teach yourself. Handle "her" button more gently.

If you can't adapt and you can't return in your country... and another country with an Apple store that WILL accept returns is too far away, contact Apple to see if you can return by mail? Else, sell it to someone else and use the IPP 11"

Nothing is going to bring what you like and what works for you in the 11" down into the Mini. Maybe this product is just not for you?

You mentioned that you ordered this from apple, well they usually have a 14 day return policy irregardless the package is opened.

You might want to run the mini always in dark mode (in Display & Brightness), so that the general appearance uses darker colors. If you are in a darker environment using less brightness enable night shift so that it tints the screen slightly yellowish. It will make it less hard on your eyes.

Generally the mini is not meant to run split screen except to do two things at once, surfing in safari and watching YouTube usually should be done as one at a time.

I think it’s the jelly scroll. I don’t notice the jelly scroll but it still makes me nauseous. I know it doesn’t make sense but I hope it does.

That is exactly what happened to me. I eagerly ordered a Mini 6 two days after the announcement and eagerly picked it up the Saturday after Launch Day. But from the very beginning, I started to get headaches, even after looking at it for a few seconds. I don't know why, everything about it was fine otherwise, but after 2 or 3 days I had to send it back, as my eyes could not deal with it. No setting changes worked, no nothing. I canceled the trade of my Mini 5, since the 5 has always been very easy for me to read. I am just going to hang onto my Mini 5 for now, and I will consider the iPad Air when the time comes to consider a new iPad. At age 65, I may be better off to use a bigger screen in the long run anyway.

I am not criticizing the Mini 6, and I am not trying to talk anybody else out of buying one. It looks like a great product and it worked really well. It is just that everybody's eyes and situation are different. The product was not right for me.

P.S. - I have played with two other display Mini 6's since I returned my unit, and I still get the headaches, so it was not just the unit that was shipped to me.

You mentioned using it a lot in split view, there shouldn't be any jelly scroll in landscape mode. Though if you get nauseous in portrait mode it would make sense. To me the jelly effect is egregious, it pops out immediately so to me it's not weird that people who can't see it still get affected by it. It's much more noticeable in everyday use than on any other device I've had.

Some people are just very sensitive to motion/flashing/particular color wavelengths/refresh rate when looking at some displays. For those people if it manifests you can't use it. This is similar to people looking at some video content they get sick, hence warnings about light flashes before watching that content.
