I'm having a hard time believing that.
That's why :
1- The drive in the iMac is a slim drive, so performance will be no where as good as a fw or USB 2.0 external proper 5.25" drive.
2- Here's the biggest "ouch" :
6.14GB = 6'140MB
2 minutes and 43 seconds = 60+60+43 seconds = 163 seconds.
6140/163 : approx. 37,6 MB/s. Blue ray drives aside, no optical drive (to my knowledge) is capable of such transfer rates. With my 16X DVD-R drive, I usually top out at 20 MB/s.
But still, I'm sure the iMac is frigging fast. 🙂
