Up until July of this year, I'd never considered a smartwatch of any sort. I love my Apple devices like any other proper fanboy, but the AW never struck a chord. After one month with my S3, I'm like a junkie, looking for any excuse to spend more on my AW addiction.

I swore I'd wait until 2021 to upgrade from the S3, but lately I've been searching eBay, looking at refurbs on the Apple site (saw a nice SB SS S5 today, $110 off new price....so tempted), but telling myself I should at least wait til the 6 is released to see where S5 prices are. I've been strong so far, but the temptation is there. And let's not even get started on AW bands. I don't have the illness like many here, but I already have six bands and am eagerly awaiting the next round to be released.

And it's not just acquisitions either, it's a use thing. I'm keenly aware of how close I am to closing my rings, I check the forecast or heat index on Carrot weather instead of my phone or desktop, and I look forward to my next nudge from Breathe.

I guess I've guzzled the Kool-Aid, but Apple & the AW really make it easy to really get lost in the, what is it, the Apple-shifted reality?

In the middle of several books.
My first watch was the series 3 as well. That is my favorite Apple device next to my iPad Pro.

I would wait to see what is announced. If it isn’t enough to make you buy, you will be able to find good deals on the SB SS. I really like my SB SS S5. I am going to wait until the announcement to decide if I want to upgrade.

I like my Apple Watch too, but I wished they had a watch face with a big time & date like the Samsung watch does. It’s hard for my eyes to focus in on the small date without reading glasses.

The S5 is amazeballs. Go for it. Faster, bigger screen, always-on, more storage. If you like your S3, you'll be over the moon with the S5.

Could something like this work for you?

This is a screen snap of the XLarge face with Watchsmith app complication. You can choose different colors, of course. Also, I like 24-hour time format; you don't need to use that if you prefer a 12 hour clock.

I was skeptical beforehand so I bought the 38mm a yr and a half ago. Since then I got a s5 titanium and I love it. The s3 was such a great experience, I wanted the biggest screen and alway on display. Its been great. I love the work out features! To me its a health and lifestyle accessory. I do HIIT Training on my stationary and love how it tells my what percentage of my max heart rate is (trying to hit 75-80). I tried to close my exercise ring 4-5 green rings per week. I try to hit at least 20 work out days per month. I control my car features (turning on the a/c before I get to the car) and the house thermostat. And weather temp at a glance. I also like sending short text messages when driving. But surprisingly I don't use it much for notifications, I don't want to be bothered.

I recommend it to anyone. Plus I'm looking to get nice watch bands. I haven't hit that yet since I'm home at work but I'd love a blue leather wrist band.

Only bad thing is I feel bad about my old citizen watches. I don't wear them anymore :(

I’m addicted to using Siri on my Apple Watch when I go for runs. I don’t even take my iPhone any more.

A typical run for me looks like below. With my AirPods Pro I just speak it out into the ether. There’s no one else around me on the trails so I don’t feel self-conscious.

Hey Siri...
- Start my Quoth the Raven podcast
- Add milk to my shopping list
- Remind me to shop for new shoes tonight at 9pm
- Fast forward 2 minutes
- What’s the temperature
- Text my wife “I’ll be home in 30 minutes”
- What’s the price of AAPL?
- Open Find Friends (So I can check on my kids whereabouts)

I don’t even use “Hey Siri” with the watch anymore (just lift my wrist to my mouth) but yes, using it with AirPods is so much better than double taps.

So... OP... you got an S3, used it a month and now want an S5? or 6? ... so this was recent, the month wasn't a while ago right? ? If that's so then... I kind of feel the same way.

Before this year I was like "AW? man what a gimmick... who needs such a thing?" but B O Y have I been enjoying my S3 since I got it in January. Mostly for the fitness features, the tracking, the rings, the achievements... It's great fun. And the watch faces with info and costumizable info are neat.

For me it's the watch faces available for the S4+ that make me want to upgrade... but... honestly I can wait. It's good as it is, some watch faces would be better but eh.. I'll at least wait to see what they come up with this year. (maybe a price drop on S5?) Then maybe I'll get one and sell this one.

But I also figure: I might as well wait until the battery is more worn, maybe a year (at least)... until I upgrade. I dunno...

But yeah I totally relate to your sentiment OP. ?
