Josias Please accept my apologies. The offensive post in that particular thread was removed shortly after it was up, and the poster banned. In all the confusion, I'd thought I remembered that it was you. My bad.

No sweat;)

That one was actually not bad. Not good, mind you :p , but understandable.

Okay, I did that one very quickly. Looking back on it, here's my revised version:

Jeg er sikker på at det finnes flere nordmenn, men det finnes ikke en sticky for dem.

From what I've found out so far, there are 6 Danes on this forum.
Josias
Pressure
Temujin
jimbo110
Jiddick ExRex
KLOOJVE

I know there is another one, Dr. something something, but I lost all track of him.

Anyways, I wanted to request seperate sticky threads or sub-forums for geographical gropus. First for the fun of it, but also to be able to speak your native language.:D I talked to Mudbug about this before, but it never really got any further. If anybody supports this idea, speak up!:D

Hey du glemte mig :)

(live in Australia now though  )

There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Dutch.

Sorry, couldn't help that. :p ;) :D
One of my very favourite movie quotes! :D

Regarding country specific forums, I don't think they'd really achieve all that much. If you wish to keep in contact with compatriot members, then there are better means of doing so. :)

I think annk already mentioned this, but I think if you want to write in another language, at least some sort of translation should be provided - more out of courtesy than anything else. Just like in real life, it's rude to have a conversation in another language that members of the group can't understand. I'm bilingual (Ukrainian and English), and I know that if someone involved in the conversation can't understand Ukrainian I will either speak in english or translate anything that's been said.

Well, you are 62.5% Dane, and if you speak Danish, I guess you could be included.;)

You ever lived in Denmark?

BTW, added Flenz. Never saw you before.

Haven't really been around the past half year and wha'd'you know - a Danish thread and a whole bunch of new Danes. How hyggeligt ...

... but however hyggelig it is, it might be a bit over the top with a subforums or stickies.

Anyway, one of the main reasons I come here is the incredible inside view of American culture :D

Why don't you just start a thread in the community forum about all things Danish... people interested could just subscribe in that one. Those would be manly Danes and pastry fetichists.

What is that character called, and how do you pronounce it?!
ø . Perhaps the MR Danes and Norwegians will sort it out for you, since it's ambiguous Greek to me.

It's called the letter "ø". :p

Seriously though, I think the Wiki article says it pretty well. The closest I can come is the sound of the "i" in "bird", if you say it with a British accent, or the vowel sound in the French "boeuf". In addition, the lips are pretty much pursed when you say it.

Very good. Børd or bøf is a good example.

BTW, bird and steak are "fugl" and "bøf" in Danish.

It is now updated with 9 Danes, plus that Dr. something I can't find.

An amount of these have supported the idea, and also made proposlas to simpy start a thread.

I live in that country to the south of Denmark

which shall remain nameless. However, I originally hail from the land of Steve Jobs, but on the other side of the country.

However, I do want to visit up north there someday, but it is just so expensive!

Any suggestions on making a fun, cheap trip?

Well, I shall teach you fluent Danish and give you a free trip to Denmark, for the low low price of one 15" high end maxed out Merom MacBook Pro.

Otherwise, I would be glad to have a MacRumors get together in Denmark. That would be awesome.

I have a suspicion my big brother was active here last year. He says he wasn't, bu he's the one who told me about this site... hmmm:rolleyes:

His name is Jason, lives in Ringsted, Denmark, and has a rev. B 14" iBook G4.

What about a South African club:D

There are about 3 of us on MR:D
Wow! South Africa uses 11 different languages, second to only India?

Afrikaans, English, Ndebele, Northern Sotho, Sesotho, Swazi, Tsonga, Tswana, Venda, Xhosa and Zulu.

So, how do you type that "clicking" sound? (Sorry for OT: just curious)

Hehe, yeah, jeg vet, I'm a stealth Norwegian (American living in Norway for 19 years).

I just love Danish. At first, when I moved to Oslo and met and heard my first Danes, I couldn't believe any of you actually understood each other. :D Now, I love it and wish I speak it, not just understand it.

Josias said:
Are you Dansih too? You write "tak" and Ø?

If we got up to 10 danes, it would be awesome.:D
Sorry. Just interested in people groups and their diverse languages and dialects, etc.
