Well the demo's for all have been released & I've played them all.

Bayonetta is Devil May Cry on viagra. It's crazy and over the top in every right way. A must buy for me.

God of War 3 Demo, is great fun too and really impressive. It doesn't appear to offer anything 'new' to the god of war formulae but does it really need to ?

Dante's Inferno is a total rip off of God of War. Seriously even the buttons and moves are exactly the same. That being said it is actually quite fun and the monster battles are fluid and swift. And unlike God of War 3, it actually is 60FPS. For xbox 360 owners this is probably the closest you will get to God of War in 2010 so definitely worth getting (though if it was a choice between Dante & Bayonetta, I'd go with Bayonetta).

Anyone else played them and what do you think?

I played the Bayonetta demo (PS3 version), and it didn't do anything for me besides make me go "what the f...??? this is nuts! what is going on??" every few minutes. It's like a feminist Devil May Cry on acid. Graphics also did not impress me - I hear the XBOX version looks a lot sharper though...?

Played the Dante Demo today, and it was pretty good. Good graphics, good action. Never really played God of War, but I imagine that's pretty much what it's like.

That said, I'm buying neither. I will however get the God of War Collection soon, and then probably GOW3 when it comes out.

Wasn't impressed with Bayonetta. I've never played Devil May Cry, but the gameplay style just really turned me off. I thought it was mediocre and it's trying to hard to push the digital T&A factor. Doesn't do much for me.

God Of War III is already pre ordered.

I'll probably rent Dante's Inferno cause I like games about Hell :)

God OF war Collection is a great buy, both games are really good and you don't notice the older graphics engine since the resolution is so high. Then you play the GOW III Demo and you're eyes bleed from the huge difference in lighting effects and number of polygons. The level of detail in GOW III is insane.

Bayonetta: Devil May Cry + woman (out of proportions) + even more lighteffects in gazillions colors
also cut scenes looked washed out compared to gameplay
camera system didn't work as i would have liked it (just like devil may cry then ;) )

God of War 3: gameplay like predecessors, great visuals and presentation, gory for the sake of being gory = annoying

if i had to choose i would take God Of War 3 hands down.... but since i never finished a single hack and slay game i'll skip both

funny thing: bayonetta got an early released and is even available in stores here since around tuesday/wednesdays and hardly anybody in the german/austrian boards even noticed.. i suppose it went "too niche" for it's own good

Thank you Jah...I'm so Blessed
Bayonetta - fast, fun and sexy...I love the main character.

GOW3 - Brutal, interesting story and gameplay thats unmatched

Dante's Inferno - An Ode to GOW series but I love the story and to put a visual to what I've been reading since I was 12.

All three will be awesome and I can't wait to get my hands on the final version.

Bless

Bayonetta - dowloaded the demo, haven't played it yet. Might wait for the demo to hit the 360.

God Of War III - how do I get the demo? I loved the first two. Oddly enough, it's not so much about the gameplay for me, as it is just seeing the scenery and setpieces.

Dante's Inferno - the demo was fun. Not that pretty, but a good time. An obvious ripoff of (homage to?) God Of War, right down to the gratuitous nudity.

Well, I played the demos for Dante and GOW3 again yesterday, and the similarities are really, um, striking.

That said, both games play very well, but they are too similar for me to buy both. So I will go for Kratos, cause I like the story and character more.

rent Dante's Inferno at least.

I think it will be worth stomping around Paradise Lost kicking Satans ass just to see what it's like :)

Bayonetta doesn't appeal to me at all. That said I'm not a fan of 3D hack n slash games, it seems like they tried to made a 3D Order of Ecclesia and removed everything but the combat.

I saw a friend playing the GoW3 demo a few days ago and it did look very cinematic and a very high quality game. I don't like Greek mythology so out of the 3 I'd get Dante, if it doesn't get slated in the reviews.

GOW3 Ultimate is pre-ordered - the box is cool, but I really want the soundtrack with unreleased tracks from Opeth and Dream Theater.

I'll have to get around to playing the demo's of the other two. Dante interests me more than BayonettaMayCry.

The GOW3 demo also comes with the District 9 Blu Ray disk.

I never really cared much for the Devil May Cry series although I've played and beaten 1-3 (haven't played 4 yet). I'll probably play Bayonetta, but I won't be buying it.

GOW III is a must buy for me. I loved the first two, thought that Chains of Olympus for the PSP was awesome, and got the GOW Collection on the PS3 for Christmas.

As someone who is pursuing an advanced degree in English it is imperative I play Dante's Inferno. :D

GOW III is the only must-buy of the three though. I still have Uncharted 2, The Saboteur, COD:MW2 and New Super Mario Bros. Wii to finish or start. And that doesn't include Mass Effect 2 as well. Far too many games, too little time. :(

I've decided to get Bayonetta 100% on 360
I've decided that it would be criminal not to get GOW3 on the PS3

Which leaves Dante in purgatory as.....

Just to make things more interesting DarkSiders has now sled into view and will be released shortly (within a week or two)

Unfortunately they say there will not be a demo for the game, however viewing the play throughs it reminds me of Viking : Battle for Asgard which I actually enjoyed, so I may buy that instead of Dante as long as it does not get utterly terrible reviews.

So I bought Bayonetta on 360 and Darksiders on PS3 today.

Anyone else take the new year plunge ?

I tried the two demos too, while Bayonetta seemed a great game, Dante's inferno didn't fit my expectatives. I found the demo a bit boring, and a bad copy of GOW3. Sometimes GOW3 falls on "button mashing" but the demo of Dante's Inferno looked like it's all the time about that button mashing.

How about Darksiders? I'm thinking about ordering both ( Darksiders & Bayonetta ) ;)

I didn't try GOW3 though, but I love GOW1 & 2, so I'll buy it for sure

OK the deep freeze taking over Northern Europe at the moment has meant that I at least had an excuse to be lazy and stay at home today so I have managed to play a couple of hours into both games. Here are my impressions.

Bayonetta first.

Story: WTF is going on ? Seriously I know it's the love child of the original Devil May Cry guy, but seriously can't we have a plot and cut scenes that make 'some' sense for a change. I'm all for quirky japanese pop culture but sometimes I really wish they would make a tangible story told in a way that people who haven't been pumped full of LSD can actually get to grips with and follow. Maybe I'm too old or somthing ? Basically its all over the place and makes little sense, just like most Japanese action titles.

Gameplay / Presentation : The game really does shine visually. The first 20 minutes of the game however feel a little out of your control, as the story takes over and your left playing a couple minutes here, 5 minutes of cutscenes followed by 2 minutes gameplay and then another 5 minute story cutscene etc... However thankfully once your over the first 35 minutes the gameplay settles in, and you realise that somehow you have learnt a 'few' basic combat moves to get you going. I say a few as the amount of combo's and button combinations is mind boggling.

Graphically the game does shine, if it's choice of locations don't really gel together, a problem I had with Devil May Cry's last outing also. That being said the frame rate so far has been lock solid, the pace frenetic (thank goodness for witch time) and some really nice particle and visual effects.

So far the game is very good, however it's certainly not worth the 'perfect' scores it acquired in some gaming press, but it is pretty much the 'pivotal' and essential example of its game genre and style.

However I do prefer..

Darksiders.

A tangible, well crafted story hold Darksiders together, and is interwoven into the solid game mechanics. Vigil's tale of Heaven, Hell and the Kingdom of Man is both well presented and realised.

Graphically the game certainly isn't as impressive as Bayonetta, it does have some lovely moments. However these nice moments are often tapered by some ugly Anti Aliasing issues during gameplay sections. What is interesting however is that during the in-game engine cutscenes there is an obvious utilization of AA absent from gameplay sections. I'm therefore unsure as to whether the game is using real time cutscenes / or pre-rendered cutscenes (albeit in-engine).

If they are real time, then it leaves me with some hope that maybe a patch by Vigil could bring in some measure of AA to the main game. They have already said they will patch the 360 version to fix the screen tearing issue, so maybe they will fix the PS3's jaggies.

However despite that issue, the gameplay thankfully is more than strong to make you overlook it's visual downfalls, and there are some lovely touches too. Bosses are well realised, Demons are impressive and animation is fluid and some of war's acquired abilities look impressive too.

Whilst I can understand the nods to Zelda and GOW, the game reminds me most of Viking Battle of Asgard, albeit a lot better. * I must be one of the few who liked Viking *

Both excellent games and it very unusual for two quite formidable and accomplished games to be released in January which normally remains a dead period of gaming.

Both certainly worth a purchase in my opinion.

I just can't get over how absolutely retarded (yes I know that's not p.c.) Bayonetta looks. I mean, I love crazy Japanese crap but Bayonetta just pains me. Not to mention her weird ass body proportions are unsettling.

I picked up Darksiders for PS3 and it's a pretty solid game so far. One thing I do like is there is a lot of color in this game. In an age where developers use a lot of grays and browns, it's nice to see someone break away from that.

I'm liking the story, too. Just the fact that you are a horseman of the apocalypse makes you feel all sorts of badass in this game.

It is pretty much God of War and Zelda mashed together. The combo system is pretty forgiving. Maybe Darksiders isn't the most original thing out there but I definitely think that this game is worth your money. I've been having a blast so far.

Bayonetta I refuse to buy until they patch things up with the PS3 version. From what I have seen it's a terrible port. If it's brought up to par with the 360 version I'll get it.

I just played this demo last night and yeah, it's pretty much just God of War. I WAS really impressed by the solid 60FPS, especially just coming from Mass Effect which runs really awful on the 360. :( I'm not really interested in playing a game that's just like God of War right now though. Bayonetta and Darksiders look the most interesting to me, unfortunately there's no Darksiders demo. I dig the visual style and it has Mark Hamill doing a voice which is a plus. I like the idea of Zelda-like elements, although Spirit Tracks is filling that roll for me currently. Based on all I've heard and played I'm most likely to pick up Bayonetta at some point. I really liked the ridiculousness of the Devil May Cry series although I think only 1 and 3 are any good; the unchanged gameplay feels stale like Resident Evil 5's control scheme. Bayonetta shakes things up enough that I think I'd enjoy it.

I bought Bayonetta at the same time as Borderlands and DAO and I just can't seem to bring myself back to it. Even when I hit the 20th or so glitch in DAO that caused me to go back 2 hours of playtime and I was in a rage of frustration couldn't bring myself back to Bayonetta... voice acting is terrible, story awful and I think it looks like garbage. I know I'm in the minority and maybe I haven't given it enough time but there's no appeal to me at all.

Can't get GOW3 and will buy DarkSliders and Dante soon....

I bought the other half Bayonetta on Saturday, and she's loving it. From where I'm sitting it appears to make no sense and mainly involve flashing lights designed to give you a seizure. Hmmm.
