Looks great
Can’t wait for the fall when all apps are updated to dark mode.

Amazing what Apple fans will get excited for... this and the ability to swipe on the keyboard. LOL

Rather have it late but done proper than what Samsung and 1+ did - system wide dark mode, customization option to boot but the footer area behind the virtual buttons stays light - dumb!

In Android's Dark Mode, it changes 3rd party apps already. It should be interesting to see how long that takes on iOS. Apps phone Facebook aren't playing nicely in Android's Dark Mode, and I'm guessing they'll make it very difficult on iOS too.

Samsung implementation is really good, but it was definitely a miss in that they didn't add functionally for 3rd party apps.

It will probably come in android Q if google are getting on board. However it won’t come to Samsung phones until next year.

Back to dark mode

I’m glad it can be scheduled as that’s what i will use mine for. I get up at 5am for work so the last thing i want is to have all white background when checking my phone in the morning. So a black background is important.

I believe the widget page will also be black which is great for me so when i do check the NBA scores at stupid o’clock the screen won’t be as bright as it is even though i do have the brightness to 0% overnight.

I know dark mode has been around but i love the thought of it on my devices. Even on my iPad during the evening when browsing will be better for the eyes.

I think dark mode will be scheduled to come on at say 6pm at night and go off at 8am as for me there is a place for the current light background. I know many here will likely have it on all the time but i like the balance of both.

I don't think the majority of iOS users care about hardcore privacy. Just look at all the iOS users on FB, Insta, Snap, etc. The ones that really care about privacy on a mobile device are the minority.

Would disagree, privacy is a big selling point with apple and it may not matter to some until it bites you in the behind. Obviously for many if they don’t know about it then they won’t notice but not an ideal mindset to have.

The sign in with apple for example is maybe my 2nd favourite feature from the event behind dark mode. Along with the photos improvements.

I have to agree. I’m not a privacy nut at all but I really appreciated some of the features Apple have put into iOS 13 like Apple sign in and even the ways to combat covert tracking with Bluetooth.

I am curious. Did Apple actually state that in the future, dark Mode will change 3rd party apps too or will it be dependent on app developers to add it as a setting option on each individual app.

Yeah it’s up to the developer

Introducing...iNight.
Nah, Apple hasn’t released a new product with the “i” name in a very long time. I was expecting something like “DarkTone” or “TrueShade” or some other marketing combo word missing the space.

My real question is will we be able to choose our own light/dark mode photo pairs? I’d really love to be able to choose separate backgrounds other than the stock ones depending on which mode I’m in.

What I suspect, is Apple will expand on Dark mode capabilities with each version of iOS, now that it’s obviously permanently here to stay. The thing with Apple is, it takes time for them to implement different ways of utilizing new features like True tone/Night Shift/Dark mode, etc., but they don’t introduce all these changes at once, they usually ration alterations/improvements over the course of a year or longer. It’s Apples typical M.O. of how they operate.
