I enabled dark mode on Yosemite, after updating to DP 5 I can't disable dark mode, no matter how many times I uncheck the dark mode theme it keeps rechecking its self. I really want to get off dark mode. Any help?

Have you tried restarting after unchecking the Dark Mode checkbox?

Do you have Lights Out installed? If so, that seems to be causing the issue for most people with that installed.

I did have it installed but I have uninstalled it. I thought that might be causing the problem. Any way to fix this?

I installed Lights Out again, turned it on then off and the dark mode check box is working again, and I have my light mode back! Thank you for your help.

Same exact problem here. Also had LightsOut installed and then uninstalled it. Will try reinstalling it to get out of dark mode...

To fix Dark Mode after uninstalling Lights out, from a terminal call

    Code:
    defaults delete -g AppleInterfaceStyle
It won't immediately change back to Light Mode but the checkbox should work appropriately again.

With the final version of Yosemite and a not working LightsOut.prefPane (which I have deleted) I have the same issue. This is the terminal:
    Code:
Last login: Fri Oct 17 16:36:23 on console
    MacBook-Pro:~ Mac$ defaults delete -g AppleInterfaceStyle
    2014-10-17 16:58:13.970 defaults[414:9682]
    Domain (kCFPreferencesAnyApplication) not found.
    Defaults have not been changed.
    MacBook-Pro:~ Mac$

    Doesn't change anything. Someone's got a solution?

There is a solution after all. A new version: http://samturner.github.io/lights-out/

does Lights Out work with 10.10 final? I've double clicked it, Preferences open, but not questions about installing.....
Nothing there in Preferences about Dark Mode......
