Dark spot on iPhone 3G

There is a dark spot on the screen in the middle that is particularly noticable when on a grey loading screen. it is about 1cm in diameter. it is a dark grey when the rest of the screen is light grey. anyone know what it is or how i can fix it?

Take it back to Apple; there is a 14-day period where you can take your phone back for a refund (with restocking fee) or they might fix/exchange it for you.

ok. thanks. im in melbourne and there is no apple store though so will i have to send it. how much is the restocking fee? and will it be possible for me to choose to fix it so i can keep all my downloads? do you know what it might be? is it because extra pressure has been applied at that spot?
