Unfortunately, my new XS arrived DOA. Out of the box it would not respond to swiping. Basically, stuck on the HELLO screen. I tried a soft reset (to no avail) and chatted with Apple support for about an hour or so. We tried more resets and a restore using iTunes, but - no luck. The Apple staff was very helpful and polite. No complaints here.

I live several hours from the nearest Apple store and can’t travel long distances right now due to some recent surgery. So - bringing it in for repair is not an option. Apparently Apple’s mail in service can’t handle the new phones right now. So, I am sending it in for a refund (rather than the offered exchange). nice phone - I'm sold on the size and the 2 cases I got for it fit well. Will give it a try again in a month or so when the supply chain has more shake down time. The refund process was very easy, BTW.
