Is there any good dash cam app's that also allow a Sat nav app to also be used.

So the dash cam runs in the background, allowing you to use the Sat nav as normal, with the dash cam recording in a loop in the background.?

Thanks

If you find one, be sure to post here! I alternate between the stock camera and Waze.

Do you just put your normal camera on record when out for journeys?

Suppose it's a way, but thought there would be a decent app, maybe there is but didn't allow background.

So as a sub question then, what good dash cam app's are there?

Thanks

The app itself cost a bit. It's pretty good. Off-line maps. then dashboard cam in-app purchase is a about €10

You can get a super cheap damcam for like £20.
I haven't tried it myself, but the review I saw was pretty ok.
I'll try and find it for you

Dash cam app that allows Sat nav

Just looked thanks for that.

The app is free, have to buy as IAP for turn by turn, then black box (dash cam), would be £26 + £8.

Pity I've just bought co-pilot recently... Wonder if they will update to add this?

Not sure on size of install maps either, says 40% off also at moment, but not sure how much it was beforehand.

Don't use the sat nav much at all, but the times I will use it will be when I'd mostly want the dash cam!

Probably can get a cheapo dash cam, but I won't end up using it, if it's too much hassle to mount, plug in etc, lazy maybe... Rather just have my phone which I mount nigh on every time when in car, sometimes plugged in, sometimes not...

To be honest sygic seems to be having a sale every month.

The point of having a real damcam is to forget about it. You install it once. Then it starts and stops when your car starts and stops.

Yeh like a lot of apps always having a "sale" ....

Suppose, but wouldn't really want to leave in full view with a cable hanging down, maybe if can get a decent battery one, clipped onto rear view mirror suppose....

I installed a G1W in my Tundra last month, and it's been great.

I was using a DVR app on my Moto X that let me set aside about 8GB and loop recorded using that space in the background while I had Google Maps open in the foreground with it on a mount in landscape for recording purposes. It worked just fine, but the G1W stays there and turns on and off with the car (Tundra owners, use the left outlet, took me a month to figure that out), plus I don't have to worry about forgetting to turn it on or off and it has 32GB of space it can use. Plus it's more likely to survive a crash and be able to get the data off of it.

I now have an iPhone 6 plus that I still use for Google Maps. But with the iPhone, I don't think there is a way to background a camera recording app due to the way iOS works.
