dashboard and iTunes pixelated

I use Retina MBP and only now I noticed that all dashboard widgets and itunes are really pixelated. I thought Apple would optimise at least their applications and widgets?

That shouldn't be the case. Which elements of those applications are specifically pixellated? Or is it just the whole thing? Check the App Store to see if you're using outdated software, somehow.

Everything is up to date. On Dashboard every widget (like clock, wether, etc.) all are pixelated and iTunes as well.

wow. I didn't do a thing but now all is crisp again.

If it happens again, right-click the app's icon and click "Get Info" and make sure the "Open in Low Resolution" checkbox is unchecked.
