Dashboard looking weird

has anyone seen this happen to your dashboard? it happened just after one of the recent software updates (not sure which one). we're running 10.5.1 on our 2.8GHz iMac. the widgets work fine, just the "x" to close them are now white boxes and the dashboard doesn't have it's "grill" appearance, just a white background.

just go to disk utility, select your drive and go to First Aid. at the bottom it will say "Repair Disk Permissions" it's quite easy. good luck!
