I've been seeing many people have been having some trouble with Dashboard X not only on MacRumors, but on many other websites. I put together this quick Dashboard X Fix "Guide" for those having issues:

Issue: "I installed Dashboard X, but I am now stuck in an endless safe mode boot loop."

Solution: "In safe mode, go to the Dashboard X app and open it up. Navigate to enabled widgets (both of them) and hit the edit button. Delete all that say 'null'. After you edit these, your device should respring and Dashboard X should work."

Issue: "While adding widgets to my springboard, I went into safe mode."

Solution: "Try respringing once, and see if that works. If not, use the above mentioned method to see if any enabled widgets say 'null'. If not, delete all of your Dashboard X widgets in Cydia which were enabled prior to the crash (start with the one which was last added). Continue until your device is out of safe mode. NOTE: After you respring, you can reinstall the widgets. If this method does not work, uninstall Dashboard X to quickly get out of safe mode.

Issue: "My keyboard is laggy."

Solution: "Chances are you have the Nyan Cat widget installed. Uninstall this widget and install the NC Nyan Cat, and put it in your notification center if you must have Nyan Cat :)

Issue: "I rejailbroke my device after installing some Dashboard X widgets, and now Dashboard X won't work when it did before."

Solution: "See the first solution."

Issue: "My springboard is continuously respringing randomly."

Solution: "You most likely have too many widgets installed on your springboard. Delete some (especially ones like Nyan Cat which increase the chances of crashes)."

Issue: "The Music Player widget has the controls over the end of the widget in portrait-- it looks weird."

Solution: "Simply turn your iPad to landscape and back to portrait-- fixed (until a respring/ reboot)."

Issue: "I can't install any widgets from the Cydia store-- I keep getting errors."

Solution: "Go to the changes section and hit reload. Let everything load (could take a while). Go into multitasking and kill Cydia. Open it back up and repeat once more. Try downloading now. If it is not working, keep on trying to download-- eventually it should work."

Hope this helps people :)

As for going into Dashboard X and toggling widgets, none of the widgets I installed show up there. It's really weird. I had widgets, they were just not listed. None of them were.

And your last issue, if you tap on the categories tab, then tap Dashboard X Addons, you will see widgets. Trying to download any of them results in 404 Forbidden errors. Over and over again. And my Cydia store is up to date with all sources loaded.

That's odd. I had the same problem, but that did it for me. For some tweaks, such as SBSettings, I had to do it a lot.

Uninstalling Dashboard

I have an Absinthe 2.0.4 iPad 3 gen. I installed Dashboard X. I use my iPad in landscape mode the most. Dashboard X does not work in landscape mode so I'm trying to uninstall it. I tried uninstalling from the modify/remove in the Cydia. Not happening. Dashboard X is still on my iPad. How do I uninstall Dashboard X?

I forgot to mention, I haven't downloaded any type of u install app yet.

When you say that Dashboard X doesn't work in landscape mode, what do you mean? Do widgets not appear, not function...? For me, it works when I'm not dealing with fixing it. Anyway, as for uninstalling, go into Dashboard X and make sure you disable all of your widgets. Then, go into Cydia and remove all of the widgets you've downloaded-- make sure your homescreen is empty of widgets. Reboot your device, and try modifying Dashboard X and uninstalling. Make sure you respring after doing this, and try rebooting. If this does not work, try hitting the reinstall button in the modify section and try again.

If that doesn't work, you could theoretically delete in iFile or via SSH, but I do not know specifically how you would go about doing that-- nor do I know if it is dangerous to your iPad (although I doubt it would be).

Thanks for the reply.

When I say it doesn't work in landscape mode, I mean, using my iPad in landscape mode, Dashboard X comes up in portrait mode. I watched a couple YouTube videos that showed the iPad in portrait mode and Dadhboard X bar was in landscape also. The guy showed a silver bar he moved side to side instead of up and down. I hope that makes sense.

Downloaded the app, after deleting it it never got deleted. Widgets keep popping up. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem. It wouldn't completely delete. I reinstalled it from Cydia, then I did the usual delete app through Cydia and it deleted completely the second time. I hope it works that way for you too, Beeray.

Thanks, but for some reason in was in the queue of Cydia, I deleted it from there.

Thanks

New problem: Press and hold does nothing

I just installed Dashboard X, went to my home screen, entered wiggle mode, pressed and held on a blank spot - and nothing happened. The Add New Widget dialogue did not open up. I have NCSettings installed but no other tweaks. Any advice?

I was hoping any of you can help me out. I have an iPhone 4 and have Dashboard X installed. But, it wont let me add any widgets to my homescreen. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Im having the same problem and thats the only widget i have also. Have you found a fix for it yet? If you have could you help me out?

Not sure why that's happening. I know mine can be a little finicky sometimes.

I wish Dashboard X had more widgets/better ones :(

I have a problem that made me uninstall it even though it's one of my favourite tweaks. Randomly, when I go to open an app by pressing it's icon, my icons would wiggle and go into edit more. I'm sure that I'm not doing a long hold on the icon. It happens a few times a day. Anyone else getting this?
