What software is the best for burning all types of data to a dvd, and if you have a recommendation a URL would be helpful. Also, I have DVD+R, is that the correct type for archiving data? Thanks!!

Toast is fantastic. It isn't free - but it is worth it. You'll find most people use Toast for burning DVD's.

DVD-R's can only be used once, once data is written to it and it is finalised that is it, can't delete or replace data on it.

DVD-RW's are more suitable for you - you can reuse the disc.

You might look into Burn. I've heard plenty of good things about it, and it doesn't get cheaper than free.
