Putting my iPhone on EDGE while at University of Utah football games and Utah Jazz games makes it so it works like normal. Just slow.

I agree with others though, watch the game you payed for.

OR, let's watch a barbaric game where players give each others concussions for amusement ... yeah, a real sport - where people actually suffer long term brain disabilities.
Great argument, really.
It's a sport - not a colosseum.

Just wondering, what is rugby?

The pot is calling the kettle black.

Haha at soccer games the people who get hurt are usually the fans of opposite teams. I would rather someone who is getting paid a lot of money to play will get hurt vs me who has paid to watch the game.

I've been lucky enough to get some free tix to several Bears games the last few years, and have taken/used an iPhone 3G, 3GS, and this year an iP4 at Soldier Field. Every single time while watching the game the signal was garbage.

There's a short window at the very beginning of halftime where data works. Otherwise, forget it.

What was worse was seeing U2 at Soldier Field. There wasn't even an intermittent signal. For the entire night.

As a general rule, any time you're in a big city and/or near/around tall buildings, getting any kind of consistent data connection is a crapshoot. Same was true when I was with Verizon and went downtown (Chicago); signal reliability was either non-existent or spotty at best...never consistent.

I went to 2 games this past season at AT&T park and 3g service wasn't that great for me.

I only have a sample size of 1 game, but it worked nicely for me. They also seemed to have wifi available, but I didn't even bother with it since the 3G was working fine that day. Maybe I just got lucky. It was definitely a big crowd because it was a Red Sox game, and Lincecum was pitching.

OTOH, I have season tix at Fenway Park, and the data service there is awful. Once in a blue moon I can get through, but I'd say 95% of the time it's impossible to get a data connection. Phone calls are no problem though.

Same thing happened to me at Cowboys Stadium vs. the Bears earlier this year. Just too many people for the network to handle.

I like being able to look up stats, scores of other games, and stuff like that while at ball games. However, this rarely happens because data is so slow in such crowded areas. I guess we can't be too surprised.

I was at the monday night game vs packers in October. Neither I (ip4, att) nor someone I was with on Verizon could access the web.

Luckily, in those situations where data is at a crawl, voice usually works. Sometimes that doesn't either, though, even if it says you have 5 bars. This was the case in East Lansing, Michigan when I saw the Spartans take down Notre Dame in overtime with a fake field goal. Video I took of that here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_xFk14G__A

Disclaimer:

I know that works because i was sending my girlfriend a picture of Ronaldo celebrating a goal. I don't know what she sees on that guy that i dont have >_<

A future, a job/career, celebrity status, better looks, money... Doesn't use his iPhone during a game..

Pick one.
