Data help?

My Friend..no seriously its not me, its my friend, got a iPhone first gen. and for the past month hasn't been able to connect to EDGE. I mean, it says E or GPRS next to the Signal Bars, She has signal. Its just that Safari/Mail/Weather..anything to do with Internet isn't working..I told her to back up all of her data(manually, by backwards syncing) and then restore as a new phone. She's doing it right now. What do you think could be the problem?

Call AT&T and make sure they have Data enabled.

It would if it had that E/GPRS Logo right. I thought if you disabled that, then the logo goes away?

No, the logo would stay as EDGE and GPRS are both cellular connections which will also be used for calls.
