anyone else having this problem? my average usage of last 6 months has been 600mb. im at 2100 for the month 2 weeks into the cycle.

the only things that have changed in my usage has been that i download ios5 and twitter. only other apps have been random games.

wifi is working at home, and work - where i spend 20-24 hrs a day.

Are you sure you don't have Photo Stream on in iCloud Settings?

Hmm, can't imagine what it would be other than iCloud? That's my best guess.

Pretty sure photo stream is wifi only.

There are already other threads on this subject by the way.

As more features are added, it's only natural for data usage to increase.

    There is no free ride.

Knowing this fundamental fact of OS software development is the reason I went with unlimited data plans the moment they were offered by AT&T.

I don't know what has caused the increase in usage for you but for me iOS 5 has not resulted in any additional data usage. For reference, below is a chart detailing my usage over the past year.

Note: I've had iOS 5 since the betas were released back in June.

And why the phone companies jumped on the low several GB caps....so people would be happy at first then realize they are screwed a year or so down the line

that was what i was going to do next.

Think i should periodically turn it on and back up - then turn it back off? just to backup some of my stuff

You could try that to see if it reduces your data usage. I'd be interested to see the results. I do want to say, however, that I don't personally see turning off iCloud as the answer. Did you look at my usage? I have every possible iCloud setting enabled and have had them enabled since June. Have you looked at your usage on your carrier's website to pinpoint if it happened all at one time and when it happened?
