I do wonder why some have this problem and others don't though. I completely formatted and reloaded last week due to problems syncing apps to my iPhone (my iPhone was getting the apps installed from iTunes, but they were constantly crashing and the Apple Product Specialists couldn't do anything to resolve it - an Archive and Restore didn't even work at fixing the problem). So if anything, I would think that I was less likely to have this problem. But ah well.

I just downloaded Data Case and had a heck of a time to get it to work. But after about a hour, it appears to be working now. I thought I would share what I found out. First of all, I am not using OS X until I can find a compatible WiFi solution for my HP Pravilion laptop. That's another problem. Data Case says to double click on My Computer to bring up Explorer and type in the ftp address that's on the bottom of the Iphone. When I did that, it would open my default browser, first Firefox, then IE7 after I changed it to default. Just to try to get it to work. I changed it back to Firefox. Under Vista 😡 to associate url:ftp protocol you can only click on Firefox and IE7. Not Explorer. I found that IE7 breaks this when installed. I tried FileZilla, and at first still could not connect. When setting up a site under FileZilla, click on Transfer settings tab and change from Default to Active. It connects no problem to Shared files folder but, not the Drop Box. Now if I can only get my WiFi working under OS X, life would be much easier
I am a Windows XP user and DataCase has worked very well for me. I've uploaded .txt, .doc, .xls, and .pdf files using the FTP address in Windows Explorer, and everything works very well, even though several of my files have spaces in their names. As an experiment, I tried uploading an 11.3 MB PDF file (the Oracle 9i SQL reference manual), and all 1668 pages uploaded and could be opened on the iPhone in a reasonable amount of time without any undue sluggishness, low memory warnings, or crashes. Unfortunately, it isn't terribly useful in this initial version, as the only way to get to page 588 of this ocument is to start on the first or last page and press page down or up several hundred times.
This program is highly recommended (4* out of 5), and will earn 5* once Rich Text files are supported and there is a better way to navigate large files.

Found this a the Microsoft site. It fixed the error and got me read/write access.
ERROR MSG: The folder 'ftp://ftp.site.name/' is read-only because the proxy server is not set up to allow full access.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, disable the Web-based FTP option. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Internet Options.
3. On the Advanced tab, click to clear the Enable folder view for FTP sites check box, and then click OK.
I had my iphone back up in itunes and this suddenly wiped all the stuff i had in datacase. i had about 4 movies there (roughly 3gb). The bar in itunes had the other section showing 3gb but straight after the back up it went to 300mb and the movies were deleted.

Thats not what you want. You DO WANT to be able to see these in folder view. Thats the whole point.
