Datamoshing

Okay, so I've been looking at these videos from "MM" on youtube (mmitchelldaviss's art video channel) and he uses Datamoshing quite frequently. Now I've tried one way of doing this technique using a bunch of different applications. I for one, know that mitchell uses final cut pro. and from what I understand, it has to do with removing I frames or something...

Yeah, he appears to be removing reference frames, or encoding with very few of them. It's like when sometimes in VLC if you start viewing in the middle of a video, you'll get this effect.
