I have been doing some editing of video collages with up-to 6 videos all playing concurrently and I am still searching for the best software tool to do the task smoothly and quickly with the hardware I have available.
So far I have been working with iMovie on a Late 2015 i7 mbp (16gb RAM), however iMovie only allows for max 2 video streams to play concurrently, so the process involves adding one stream at a time and rendering the results every time. Not ideal.

I have downloaded Davinci Resole (free) and while it is an incredibly comprehensive piece of software, I just don't think my mbp has enough power to operate it smoothly. This is to the point of being almost unusable with 6 video streams, but actually it is quite jerky even with a couple of streams (which iMovie handles beautifully).

I have heard good things about Lumafusion on an iPad pro, however I am wondering if there is anyone among you with actual real life experience of using it successfully with 6 video stream concurrently.
I know the iPad pro is a powerful tool, very likely more powerful than my 2015 i7 mbp, however before I fork out the £30 it would be good to have some first hand feedback.

Thanks

Just to close this thread in case it pops up in someone' search... In the absence of a response (perhaps I am in the wrong forum) I went ahead and purchased LumaFusion.
I am truly amazed by how powerful this piece of software is, when run on an iPad Pro (2018/2020).
It is handling the 6 HD videos streams like a champ. The editing functions are great (and I am only just scratching the surface), and the I/O capabilities for storage, backup, archiving, restoring, etc... are superb. This was one of my worries about using the iPad for video editing.
I can't recommend it enough.
