New York City!
Today is the day after the launch, I was there and got my reserved phone... but I wanted a second one, and decided to not get the smaller phone that I reserved, and I'm wondering if there is a chance the Apple store will have more stock come in today (for those who are willing to wait in line) that they would be selling? Anyone know if this is common? I realize you can't say for sure by each location, but is this common, that the store may get new stock the day after launch as well?

Reservations just went live for the east coast and there seems to be tons of stock available for pick-up today in the few places I checked. Rose Gold still appears to be the most constrained. Go reserve one now if you want it!

A week after launch, yes. A day after launch, not as likely. It's not as if they just have a string of UPS trucks lined up at the loading dock.

DUDE! I did not realize this is how it worked.... I just got my second-best choice reserved, THANKS for the info! So if I want to take my chances, I can keep checking and trying the reservations all week long? Is this supposed to take the place of people lining up? If so, I like this system- you can know if you're going to get it before you go there.

I reserved space gray 6s and 6s+ with no issues - now just have to make a decision!

Call the stores; I went last night to an Apple Store in San Antonio to buy a saddle leather case for my 6s+ and they had tons of phones available. They said that a lot of them were from people who didn't show up for reservations, and that they would just sell them to walk-ins over the weekend. You never know if you don't ask them.

**** i hope i get one in california sanjose i preordered for shiping but it comes late october silver but now i decide i will go for rose gold if i cant reserve that i will reserve a silver please let it happen

just reserved a 6s+ 128 Space Grey in Texas.

I immediately cancelled my online order i made through Apple

Up until this phone cycle I always waited outside the store, and when the plain 6 came out, I waited from 3:45am till 10am only to find out that the 6 plus was sold out in all colors. I LOVE this new system, you do wait a little, sometime around an hour, but at least you know what you're going to get once you're done waiting. Was this always in place and I just discovered it this release, or is it new?

Apple stores in Dallas seem to have plenty of 6s stock (I checked 64 and 128 for silver and space grey). Those are the only ones I'd be interested in so I haven't checked others. But I could walk in and pick one up. They had plenty of stock.

I wouldn't say "always". I mean, they have more stock this year. They did do reservations last year too. But it wasn't as easy to just hop online and reserve something. A lot of the improved experience this year has to do with improved stock I think

I was able to make an Apple Store reservation around 6pm yesterday for 8pm. The store was very busy, but I was out the door with my 6S in 10 minutes. I asked the guy who handled my reservation how he thought sales were going and he said something to the effect of them being the best he'd seen.
