As a lifelong DC fan, I have been very disappointed with them in terms of competing with Marvel. They have kicked our behinds for years now and much credit and respect to them for building an even bigger fan base with their productions. I hope this is a step in that direction in getting their act together and put out great DC tv, movie, and streaming products DC fans would be proud to defend.
I would say DC excels at a lot more than Marvel right now. DC is killing it in comics right now, marvel not so much. Same with gaming and animated movies.

General FYI, most (all?) of the DC animated Justice League movies are currently on Hulu. I'd highly recommend Flashpoint Paradox, Doom, Dark (very [peripherally a JL movie, has Constantine, Deadman, good stuff ...) and I really liked The New Frontier (alt story taking place in the 50s).

Blame Netflix for that. They don't want to pay for licensed content but rather waste money on terrible original content which is why we have all of these extra streaming services.

I will however try this out when it comes. I just hope the video quality is at least 1080p.
Actually I think what is happening is MBA weenies at Disney, DC, CW etc have built a case that it would be more profitable to run their own streaming service than licence to the likes of Netflix or Hulu. Hence Netflix has lept lnto original programining to protect its business because content providers will start removing their content from Netflix as the relevant agreements expire. Without new content Netflix dies.

Whether outfits like DC comics end up being more profitable than the current arrangements remains to be seen. I doubt it. And of course if it doesn’t, the MBA weenie won’t care as they would have already leveraged their ‘win’ into a better paid job elsewhere before it all went pear shaped. They will have achieved their goal.

Still amazes me that people are willing to shun physical media and pay $10-15 a month for seperate digital services. If you wanted Netflix, Amazon and the likes of DC, Disney... that’s like $40 a month lol.
$40 is still much better than regular cable for what you get in terms of quality plus no ads.

Agree but the CW DC shows are not doing them any favors...

True, but it's should be noted that many people don't actually pay for all the services they have access to.

There's a large percentage of consumers who share / use passwords from friends, family, roommates, co workers, etc. That fact lessens the financial cost for a large amount of users.

Some of the services (like Amazon, DTVN, etc.) are included incentives with a service or plan someone may already be using (At&T, Amazon services). Others like YTTV give users 6 accounts for a single price.

Plus, as it's been mentioned, users can cancel & sign up at their convenience....When a new movie or series premieres, people can binge, then cancel. (And many of these services have promos / free trials)

Technically if you paid for each one of these digital services, yes the price can add up. However, realistically, plenty of folks have access to all of these & maybe are paying for only 1 or 2.

DC Universe and Marvel, it might be wise to move this discussion to the "religion and politics" section. ;)

Depends on your situation I guess. I used to have DirecTV 4-5 years ago and was paying roughly $130-$140 a month and barely had stuff I wanted to watch. Now I have Multiple streaming services (Netflix/Hulu/NHL) with tons of stuff I actually want to watch as well as every game my sport team plays and it's half of what I was paying... and that includes my internet cost.

Why the hell pick sides for comics? Both DC, Marvel, along with other publishers produce some amazing content. This commercially generated war between DC and Marvel is a waste of everyone’s time.

Wasn’t really looking foemeward to this before, since it previously just mentioned as tv and movies. Now that it might have access to a comics library I’m more interested.
