Hey everyone, I just got 2x2gb of g.skill ddr2 ram that I quickly installed in my excitement. The first time the MBP started up, the system profiler reported 2.5gb or ram recognized, and then suddenly the computer restarted. From then on, the laptop kept repeatedly restarting during startup. I removed one of the 2gb sticks and the laptop works again. Has anyone had this experience, and more curiously does anyone have a solution?

Easy: Replace the RAM, because it's DoA. It's presumably under warranty (or can be returned to the store), so you can try to get a working stick if you want to stick with what you've got rather than a more Mac-centric brand like OWC.

I've seen those exact symptoms with bad RAM.

You were right - one of the sticks would only show 512 regardless of whether I installed both sticks or only one of them. It's now packed and ready to be shipped back to where it came from.

Thanks for the tip!
