Ddr3 Vs. Ddr2

    What is the difference? how much faster will DDR3 make a computer? Benchmarks, please!

    I've read that DDR3 isn't a huge step up from DDR2. Also I don't think it will be in the macbooks for another year or so, it really is only seen in high end gaming rigs at this point.

    For benchmarks why don't you just google them?

    DDR2 and DDR3 require different motherboards, so there is no prospect of upgrading an existing machine.

    There are a few PC desktop motherboards on the market that have slots for both types. The performance is roughly the same, however the promise of DDR3 is that it will support much higher processor frontside bus and memory bus speeds.
