My iMac 24" (mid 2006) is dead. It has been hard to get out of sleep mode in a month, and needed several restarts to start up. Now its dead. I hear the fan starting, but stops immidiately afterwards. I have looked at the diagnose LEDS inside. Number 1 is light on, the next three lights up at start but goes out immediately after.

I have googled and found that it is either the power Supply or the logic board. But which??

Hope someone can help me diagnose which of the two.

    Thank you!

Hard to say without a diagnostic, but given its sleep mode problems (which very much involve the power supply) there is a decent chance it's that. It's also not as expensive to fix as the motherboard. I'd try to replace that first, if it doesn't work the return the part for a refund and decide if it's best to change the whole computer. Someone will probably pay you something on eBay for yours so you at least get something back.

    thanx

I have come to the same conclusion. Is just a little sorry to spend 100 $ on a power supply that doesn´t help. And the logic board is 1000 $ so... no fix there
