dead battery

Hi there

I hope someone can help me with this strange problem...

The electrical cord to the charger of my MacBook Pro 10.4.11 broke. I tried to assemble the wires again and connect the charger to the computer, but it didn't work and I had to buy a new charger.(which I have now)
But since I made my ¨wire-connection stunt¨ the battery is completely dead, as if it has been short circuit.
If I disconnect the charger my computer dies immediately.

Is it possible to wake it up again or is this the end for my poor battery??

Try to reset the PMU (google it. Depends on model). If that doesnt work, time for a new battery!
