About a month about my previous gen iPod Classic (80GB) randomly died (yes, it was hooked up to my mini, until I got a "Your ipod has been disconnected," and it wouldnt turn back on).

Took it to apple, nothing they could do without $180 for repair. Luckily, I was on the phone with my cousin who was overhearing me talking to the genius on the phone, and generously sent me a brand new 160GB Classic.

So... now I have this 80GB classic sitting here. First idea was to sell it cheap in case anyone else wanted to try to fix it themselves for a steal.. until I realized that all my photos and junk are still on the HD (they couldnt tell if it was the HD or the circuit or what..).

So................ what do I do with it? I mean, I'd like to get rid of it as well as get SOMETHING back, but not with all my photos and junk still on the HD (if its still good). The reason I'm not fiddling with it is because I'm in college and don't have too much spare time I try to mess around with it.

There's only so many things that can go wrong with an iPod; it's probably either your battery or your hard drive. Either can be replaced at home if you're technically inclined and feel like investing the money. I'd probably just do that and then sell it.
