Spill on new 2.66 15.4" MB985LL/L macbook pro.

This was sent to Apple and they will not repair it since it was a spill and the "logic board" was damaged. I think the battery is dead and when you plug it in, you get nothing.

I have done some searching and found the board is about $1100!

Can you use a lower grade logic board in this computer? IE a lower clock speed or older model? I don't have $1,100 to drop on a new board!

Yes you could use a lower clocked Logic board, but you would still a hefty price for it. Logic boards will not go lower than $950 for newer models.

Edit - Never mind my talk. I looked at iFixit.com and you can get a 2.4GHz logic board for $900.
