The town without George Bailey
I was so excited when my new macbook came on Thursday. Figures I would get a lemon with a dead screen.

At first I thought it was a sleep issue. I reset the PRAM, etc. Well, tonight in good light, I notice that the screen is there, it's only not back lit at all.

It'll turn on once in about twenty resets, plugged in or not. My question is, when I call apple, do I get a brand new macbook, or will they ask me to send it in for repair? I'd much rather a new one than one of their shoddy ones repaired.

And all my data is on it, and I have to send it back. That pisses me off!

you will most likely get a replacement (a new one), given you just received it last thursday.
My macbook had some problem (mostly cosmetic) with its keyboard a week after I got it, they happily replaced it with a brand new one, no question asked.
