I have a 32GB Wifi iPad purchased 4/3/10. I also purchased AppleCare. I just discovered a dead pixel (all colors but black). Have an appointment with Genius this morning. Anyone have any idea if they will replace it? If they are out of stock will they refund my money after 14 day return window? Thanks

From reading on the forum over the years, one dead pixel on Apple laptops, iMacs, or other devices does not meet apples criteria as unacceptable. In the past, others have been told 10 or more or they have to be grouped together.

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

1year warranty. They may replaced it since it's the ipad.

I had three dead pixels on a MacBook pro last summer and they exchanged it. It was within the 30 day window.

Hope they swap it out. Problem is I wonder if they have any stock?

Well they should have service replacements in the stock, so it properly wont be a retail box exchange.

I had a similar issue. I went over this past weekend to a genius because I thought I had a dead pixel. Apparently, we figured it must've been a warp in the glass itself because you could still see it when the device was off, and it didn't look like dust. A few geniuses were perplexed lol.

They thought that was weird so they handed over a brand new iPad to replace it. Very easy and super helpful. Not refurbished. I don't know if they're just being nice to people cause it just launched and they want all positive buzz surrounding the device, but they certainly treated me well and the swap was quick and painless.

For real, take it to a Genius Bar, be very nice, explain things like dead pixels drive you nuts (like me - say you're OCD), and they should swap it.

I've read alot on these forums of people with dead pixels, but haven't experienced one myself, at least not that I can notice.

Is a dead pixel even that noticable? Is it something that stands out, or do you have to hold the ipad really close and examine it in detail to see? If its not really noticable, whats the big deal of having one?
