People other than yourself. I bought a new 13" 2020 MBP 2 weeks ago and am very happy with it and have no regrets buying one. Tim Cook and Apple both stated they will release and support new macOS versions for Intel machines for years to come. I read that as more than 3 years.

The problems I see with buying now (unless you needed a machine for working ASAP) are: 1. on ARM release you'd find even better deals for Intel models as they'd be 1 gen older. 2. ARM Macs may convince you, as unless you need Bootcamp you basically can do anything you can with an Intel Mac plus all the battery life among other benefits they'll bring. Buying now is just not having that option to ponderate.

So IMHO I'd strongly suggest to people just to wait 3 more months if they can, there's nothing to loose but a lot to win. Just my 2 cents

It's very likely you're running in clamshell mode. Open lid doesn't work at any resolution without power consumption spiking to 20W. Higher resolutions only work in clamshell if you modify the refresh rate using SwitchResX or set your monitor to 180 rotation.

2000rpm is high btw - not as high as the 5000rpm you would see at higher resolutions, but my 13" 2020 can run a monitor at 2560x1440 with fans at 1300rpm or lower - sometimes 0rpm.
Nope. its open as I use dual screen with second monitor. Reason for the increased heat and fan is it uses the Amd gpu which is signifcantly more powerful than the iris graphics on the 13”. its actually 1800-2000 rpm. Doesn’t bother me, the Fans are fairly quiet at that speed. Maybe I’m just lucky I don’t have issues like others have mentioned but I love this macbook.

Interesting! Do you have iStats installed? What is your Radeon High Side value and system total wattage with open lid connected to two monitors? What are the make and model of your monitors and what type of cables or hubs are you using to connect to them? Thanks!

Seems to me Apple must have at least a rudimentary BootCamp in the labs, with x86 emulation for ARM coded in. This sort of tech has been around decades.

The question is whether they decide to release it.

Radeon highside 18.5w
System total 40w
Left Fan 1800 rpm
Right fan 1700 rpm
Connected to one monitor and using 16" at same time, external is Dell Ultrasharp, don't remember the model but it's 24", 1920x1200, hdmi

I'm not doing anything super intensive on it, just office, quickbooks, etc, and that's what it's running at. So for my workflow it's running quiet and cool.

Hope that helps :).
