We began to track these sales after the "Spring Loaded" event last week, and Amazon has now provided even steeper discounts on a few of these 2020 iPad Pro tablets.

I'd be as much interested in having the M1. The 2020 12.9 is already a couple of generations behind in CPU tech. Not that it's a slouch by any means, but I expect some important things in WWDC...
I'm interested as well. Read this morning M2 is ready soon but that's how things work. I am still interested though.

And m3 is finalizing test samples and m4 is in the drawing board and m5 is on the head of the engineer getting cooked as well lol. It’s. A never ending cycle tbh.
the m1 is going to be a bigger jump in performance than the next cycle. So I’m buying it unless they slash the 2020 pros to half the price lol. 10-20% off is a joke tbh. I saw the 2020 yesterday at Sams for 899 and walked passed it.

My iPad Air 3 is still here chugging along … as much as I’d love a pro, I cannot justify the price for performance improvement I would not even realize day to day.

My iPad Air 2 is still holding up as well, but I think it's due for an upgrade - especially if Apple adds more features at WWDC to make use of the M1 processor. I was hoping for the iPad Pro 11" w/ upgraded display but now I'm not sure if I want wait another year for OLED models. I hear the latest iPad Air is better price/performance wise? Might end up with another iPad Air!

I had forgotten the base storage amount doubled from 64 to 128 when the 2020 iPad pros were released. Just another point for the rationalization now occurring in my head about how now is the perfect time to upgrade…

Yup, same. I’d be upgrading for faceID and promotion, basically. The A12 in my air still provides excellent performance, and I can’t imagine I’d see a huge difference with either an A12z or a M1. I just don’t push my iPad hard enough.

I had just bought and received an iPad Air 4, 256gb from Amazon for $699 that I'm going to give to my wife for mother's day, but I just setup a return and purchased the iPad Pro 11 2020, 128gb from Amazon for $699 instead. Although it doesn't have as "fun" a color for her as the iPad Air, for her use case the storage reduction is acceptable but I think the extra RAM + ProMotion is well worth the exchange. I also purchased the Magic Keyboard from Walmart for $100 off at $199 and got a 2nd gen Apple Pencil. It will be a big upgrade for her from a basic older iPad and a cheapo Chinese bluetooth keyboard, she does use it as a "laptop" since the only Mac she uses is an iMac 21.5 in our kitchen that is shared by the family.

I have the iPad Pro 11 4G 2018, 256gb with the Magic Keyboard + Pencil and I love it.

BTW: unrelated but I am *not* interested at all in the new M1 iPad Pros until they prove that iPadOS has grown to need that much power AND they update the 11 inch with microLED like they have the 12.9 model. i honestly feel like my 2018 iPad Pro still screams so they need to prove why I should spend so much to upgrade when at this point software is really the issue with iPadOS.

Probably Thursday sometime in order to hype everyone up for preorders.

i wonder if that will happen. in the past when a product has a significant shipping delay they hold the embargos until closer to them actually showing up, rather than just tying it to preorders. hope you are right, i'm curious if the M1 really makes a practical difference in the use of the iPad Pro vs. the 2020 models without a significant update to iPadOS yet.

I am still shocked how ridiculously expensive these are for the limited functionality. Don’t get me wrong, I love my iPad for what it is.

I paid $400 new for my iPad Pro 10.5 and then found another brand new one for $300 at Walmart. Its still 90% of what the 2020 11” is.

The crazy thing is I can still sell them for over $300 on the used market.

I've had the iPad Pro 11 2018 for 2+ years now. Its really unique to me. First off it is super fast and the 120 pro motion display is unique amoung iOS devices, at least for now, making browsing and using it a delight in a way that other devices including laptops aren't. The device is impossibly thin and when I pair it with a Magic Keyboard it behaves and looks like a laptop, complete with trackpad but the ease at which I can "rip" the iPad right off and go to handholding it gives me such flexibility to go from lots of text work with the keyboard to enjoying reading a book or watching a movie on a lightweight device on the couch with no case. Nothing compares and I *HAVE* an M1 Macbook Air. There is just nothing quite like it and for people without a need for pro software, its a very viable alternative to laptops for internet use, word processing, and media consumption and does it in a package that almost gives you the best of all of those things. If you need Final Cut, heavy multitasking, etc. I agree it falls flat, but MANY people don't.

If you have a need for the extras in the pro, yes.
What are the extras that would make the Pro a better buy than the Air? I am also tempted as I do not need the M1 performance and am in doubt between this offer and the Air.

Pro motion technology (120Hz refresh rates), larger screen, 4 speakers, Face ID, more RAM, ability to get higher than 256GB storage, are all I can find based on specs listed in Apple’s site. Oh yeah, 5G if you get cellular, but the up-charge is $200 instead of $129/149.

I'm in IT and my manager has an unused iPad Pro 11 with a magic keyboard in the closet rotting way because it's the CEO's backup in case he breaks it. Can't wait to get it after 5 years when they realize it never got used and the CEO is on the 2026 iPad Pro lol.

i debated getting an air as well… i had to upgrade in march bc i was on an ipad 6 and ran out of storage, plus it was pretty slow. but the base storage (64) on an air isn’t enough for me. so i went with the 11” pro.
