Apple's 2021 32GB Apple TV 4K has hit a new all-time low price today on Amazon, available for $99.99, down from its original price of $179.00. This beats the previous record low price that we tracked during Prime Early Access by about $5.

Apple announced a new model of the Apple TV 4K earlier this week, and it starts at just $129 for 64GB. While this makes the 2021 64GB model harder to recommend (it's currently $119.99 on Amazon), if you're okay with a previous-generation device and want to save money, today's sale on the 2021 32GB Apple TV 4K is a great deal.

And it comes with an Ethernet jack (because even Apple TV falls victim to the Spinning Beachball Syndrome while using your Wi-Fi).

So odd they would continue to sell this side by side with the new one. Maybe they discontinue it when the new one is available?

Just bought a Roku 4K Stick for $25 on sale and it has Airplay built in so I can stream from my Macbook and iPhone. I generally like Apple but can't help feeling like we're getting ripped off with their TV product line-up.
Having used both, the user experience is so much better on the ATV, well worth the money, especially if only getting it for one TV.

But, completely understand why someone would rather pay only $25 for something that can do 70% of what an $100 device can do.

My a10 atv is still as fast as day 1. For media consumption an a12 is still overkill.
The 2017 ATV4K1 has the A10X, not the A10. The A10X is basically on par with the A12. The A12 has slightly faster CPU and the A10X has a slightly better GPU.

An argument could be made that even the A10X is overkill for media consumption.

Excellent deal for those happy with the second-best version. Still a very solid product that should be supported for a long time.

I waited for the one that got announced this week, since I wanted the best Apple can deliver in this category.

This is a steal. What is it missing that the new one has? HDR10+ and A15(which isn’t a difference maker)?

I would argue that it’s the best version. Thread and Ethernet for cheaper. HDR10+ only has impact on Samsung tvs, right? A12 vs A15 isn’t something that’s going to make a difference for several years until they decide to quit supporting A12.

It sounds like you’re arguing it’s the best deal. That’s pretty true. But you can’t say it’s the best version when there’s clearly a better version now.

The deals in Canada are terrible. I wanted to get another ATV for the gym I'm setting up in my basement (so I can use Fitness+ on the big screen). Just looked on Amazon and the (2nd Gen) ATV 4K 32 GB is currently "on sale" for $208.98 - meanwhile I can order a 3rd gen from Apple for $179 (64 GB) or $199 (128 GB with ethernet). I ordered the 128 GB from Apple since for only $20 the ethernet, thread or extra storage may come in handy some day...

Two weeks ago this would have been a smoking deal for someone looking to pick up a new AppleTV. However, the new one only being $30 more with double the storage space and an extra 1GB RAM makes it just a so-so to not so great deal now.

I say that as someone who bought one of these last week when they were $109. Still happy with the purchase, but man.

The $129 version doesn't come with Ethernet or Thread support. That is a dealbreaker for many, but not all of course. Just know those are hardware limitations if you ever want to a hardwire connection or want to get into HomeKit / Matter with Thread supported devices. The 2021 version had both of those things.

The faster chip would actually mean more if Apple actually showed interest in it's gaming division. They practically have all they need (except maybe an official controller) to make a good (and convenient) gaming console but they seem clueless with gaming in general and gaming marketing.
I too think they've come a long way with their ATV devices. Maybe the next iteration will be a "console" that also doubles as an ATV - Apple Console (hey - with their original naming streak...) to differentiate the lineup. Comes with a full AVR gear set? Then simple controllers for non-AVR play. We can dream.

Happy with my current Apple TV 4K but would like that Siri remote. I wished Amazon would discount it.

Spend the extra $50 and wait or pocket it and buy this; either way there’s no experiential difference between them.
