Must be really quiet. I never knew either, until they talked about removing it. lolI had no idea my old Apple TV had a fan -- did anyone ever hear a fan sound?

Right, I think they’re just bringing up the new base storage version whenever they compare prices, so that caveat needs to be mentioned when you talk about the $129 starting price. But just $20 more at $149 gets you the whole package, no compromises.Correct me if I'm wrong, but the new one has an ethernet option, does it not? When I go to their page, I'm seeing both. They're separate models now, but it's still available. I just keep seeing comments implying the new one doesn't have it, so I'm wanting to clarify.

I was surprised to read that also. I have never heard a fan on mine.I had no idea my old Apple TV had a fan -- did anyone ever hear a fan sound?
The RAM I’ll give you, but usb-c remote doesn’t do anything for its capability. And lighter design has no impact because it’s not a portable device. Also 4GB RAM, new USB-C remote and a slightly more compact (and lighter) design.
I’d add that it’s fanless and also uses less electricity. Also 4GB RAM, new USB-C remote and a slightly more compact (and lighter) design.
Well if it does not do so now it might well on the future as thus is just sw ( as far as I know) so nothing stops Apple from adding support laterDoes this one support Thread? Can't remember.
No compromises? 😂Right, I think they’re just bringing up the new base storage version whenever they compare prices, so that caveat needs to be mentioned when you talk about the $129 starting price. But just $20 more at $149 gets you the whole package, no compromises.
Yeah, no features missing, compared to other recent Apple TVs. The $129 model is missing Ethernet and Thread, so that’s what I meant by compromises. No compromises? 😂
The faster chip would actually mean more if Apple actually showed interest in it's gaming division. They practically have all they need (except maybe an official controller) to make a good (and convenient) gaming console but they seem clueless with gaming in general and gaming marketing.
No compromises would include features not available on the previous model, the increase in RAM and storage with no new features like a tuner or ability to use the box as an DVR as examples, is useless to most. This is an incremental update. Given your expanded definition of “no compromises “ then ok.Yeah, no features missing, compared to other recent Apple TVs. But you’re welcome to twist my words into something different from my intent, for a laugh. Enjoy yourself.
Yeah, my statement was purely meaning no compromises in the sense that it isn’t removing features, like the base storage version is doing. No compromises would include features not available on the previous model, the increase in RAM and storage with no new features like a tuner or ability to use the box as an DVR as examples, is useless to most. This is an incremental update. Given your expanded definition of “no compromises “ then ok.
Agree. Sadly it lacks in the app department. For me, not worth the $$. Fire TV stick and Roku are the winners in both apps and price.Having used both, the user experience is so much better on the ATV, well worth the money, especially if only getting it for one TV.
But, completely understand why someone would rather pay only $25 for something that can do 70% of what an $100 device can do.
